i have heard some speculation abotu what to use when first breaking in an engine, i've heard that heavier is better, thinner is better, non-detergent will help the rings seat... all kinds of wierd ****, so i ask, what do you guys use on your turbo Hondas,
my setup is:

im about to do my first honda break-in as well...im going w/ val. 5w-30, thinner gets flowing though the engine quicker...and since i dont know of any way to prime the oil pump on these engines, i want to get it flowing as quick as possible

ya, but is that good, having the engine turn over like that w/virtually no oil presser for the first time. I think the only thing i can think of from a domestic that is better is that you can use a tool w/a drill to turn the oil pump and hit full oil presser before ever cranking the engine.
and after you see how long it takes spinng on a high speed drill to hit good pressure, you'll be scared the during the first start on any car that you cant do that to.

i read it in the Helms "bible" and also in all 3 volumes of the Honda Builders Handbook... besides, you only do it for a couple of seconds at the most, wait a sec, and do it again.... Hondas build oil pressure almost instantly

If you used a generous amount of assembly lube when putting the motor together you'll be fine. Remember if this is the first time the turbo is turned on the motor, you need to prime the feed line to get oil to the center section anyway.

I have a 93 Talon TSI and I have been using Mobil1 tri-synthetic since I have had it......seems to work very well. That's what I would recommend.

Boostaholic... what's the best way to prime the turbo feed line?

Depending on what car you have there's usually a main fuel injection relay fuse and ignition coil fuse. You can pull both of those and that will allow you to spin the motor over freely without firing. If you have an oil pressure gauge you can go by that or just turn it over for about 15-20 seconds. I usually turn it over until i get oil coming out the feed line so the turbo has sufficient oil on the first startup.

on my 6 gen civic you open the glove box and make it fall all the way down and disconnect the fuel pump relay on the right of the glove box.
