Default What kind of sleeves??

Ok, so i'm getting ready to actually build a block. I am wondering what sleeves everybody would recommend. I was looking into Darton's but someone said they don't work well with the headgaskets. I am going to be saving up to buy the sleeves and all, but just trying to see what people recommend before hand. I going to be building a LS/Vtec with sleeves, rods, pistons and all. This will be for me to be running in a few months or so. Right now I am doing a LS/Vtec Stock bottom end, with a Type R head, so i'm just trying to get something built so I don't have to stay with the stock internals. Thanks and any info is appreciated.

aebs, benson, erl, golden eagle, z10 (did i miss one)? alphabetically.....hahaa.

i have been using erl for 3 years. no issues. built a few blocks for friends erl sleeved no issues.

used datron mids on a block done by my local machine shop. no issues.

dont let price be an issue, call and talk to all of them.

everyone is going to have a good bad story about one or the other. cut through all the bs, and make a choice that you are comfortable with.

yeah, aebs were recommended from the guy that had told me the darton's don't do good with the headgaskets, i'm trying to buy parts kind of in the middle on pricing, but i'm trying to get something that is going to be reliable, I am just wanting between the 450-500whp out of the next motor I put together. I was thinking of Eagle or Scat rods, and haven't really made a decision on what pistons to get yet, so I am trying to look into a lot before everything.

450-500 can be made on stock sleeves if you trust your tuner.

Darton sleeves work just fine with the OEM headgasket. Darton MID's are great... ERL superdeck 1/2's are also great. I personally use ERL blocks as we have been working with them for many years no and have yet to run into an issue with their services.

thanks for the replies everyone, i'm still researching everything since I am having to save up to buy the sleeves, but just wanted to check everything out and see what people recommend before actually buying something and end up buying something that isn't a good product.
