What kind of gauges do you run?

What kind of gauges do you run?
What kind of gauges are you guys running? I'm looking at the Defi ones and the auto meter boost gauge I really like the look of the carbon fiber series. I see one is mechanical and the defi one's are step motor? The defi gauges are significantly more expensive, is it worth it? What's the difference between the step motor and the mechanical? What do you recommend I run?

Glowshift are priced good and actually quite accurate.
When the sensors die on a glowshift, they are usually 10$ to replace too.
but it you want "legit" AEM

Re: What kind of gauges do you run?
The basics for most street setups would be the following
Boost (signal from the intake manifold)
Wideband air/fuel
Oil pressure
Fuel pressure (good thing to know should the car start having issues on the fly)
Now a circuit setup should include those plus thes
Oil temp
Trans temp
Egt (hottest runner probe placement although each cylinder should really have it's own, aids in individual cylinder fuel trims)
Wideband sensors in each exhaust runner (really only for those at the limit of a particular fuel or looking for ultimate efficiency)
Me personally since I'll be testing various turbos I have all of the above plus these
Intercooler in/out (also shows turbo compressor outlet temp)
Exhaust manifold backpressure
Post turbo egt (to see temp drop across the manifold and turbo)
Air filter restriction (using it to do a test for a thread showing definitive data on filter/no filter/screen. Also to help identify the most efficient filter)
Secondary boost gauge showing pre intercooler pressure to monitor pressure drop across the core (checks for intercooler efficiency)
Now obviously I can't physically have this many gauges in the car lol, so most will simply be sensors wired in to the AEM EMS to datalog, all in the name of finding the most efficient setup for my desired overall goals (turbo response time, powerband/torque production, etc) it will also allow me to collect concrete data to share with the HT community regarding a few topics that few actually have data on/cant talk about without making wild speculations

I run all Auto Meter Gauges in my car and an AEM wideband/AF gauge. I like them both, my Auto meter boost gauge works very well.

Re: What kind of gauges do you run?
I've had issues where autometer gauges displayed incorrect values/false readings
To the OP... stay away from most if not all eBay/China gauges

Re: What kind of gauges do you run?
Imo Wideband + EGT PER cylinder is a little over the top
you'd need at least 2 foot long individual Headers because widebands are not super accurate really close to the exhaust port.

I also like the AEM serial gage because its all in one. If I had an AEM EMS...
I currently use the innovate mtx-l wideband and a pair of mtx-d gages, oil pressure/temp + boost/tach-shift light.
The S300 data logs the rest.

Greddy oil pressure gauge and aem wideband.
With a greddy boost controller and blitz turbo timer. The turbo timer is also a boost gauge, just display's in bar not psi.

Re: What kind of gauges do you run?
Autometer Phantom oil pressure and vac/ boost currently with an NGK AFX for wideband. Been great gauges and accurate for me but changing them out to new Autometer Elite's.
If I was not going that route... 110% sure I would be putting in Greddy D/A multi gauge. Friend has one and it is an extremely nice piece.

Re: What kind of gauges do you run?
I'm running oil pressure and volts, I can't remember what brand. and I have the Nordskog low pressure digital fuel pressure gauge, I was lucky to get one before they closed, nothing comparable, I built an SDC heads up voltage monitor into the dash, so the LED pretty much tells me exactly what the charging system is doing, the voltmeter is redundant now, so I may end up putting an oil temp gauge there. I would like to be running a Stack oil pressure and temp gauge, but they are pricy, I have a sport comp voltmeter in the box with the Odyssey battery anyway, so I can flip the top open if I had to. I need to figure out somewhere to put a wideband, I like the ones with the remote display, but they are expensive as hell

Re: What kind of gauges do you run?
have you ever used glowshift?
I had a glowshift wideband that read better and corrected faster than my damn AEM UEGO.
their products aren't nearly as bad as people think.
best to worst in my opinion:
AEM-Defi-PLX-Glowshift-autometer-prosport-misc chinese no name.

I personally haven't used that junk. No need to waste my money twice. They are in the same boat as Pro Sport.

Re: What kind of gauges do you run?
None. That's what the ecu is for. I want the ecu to monitor everything I don't want to worry about it. I use the stock gauge cluster and that's it. If it's a track car then that is understandable but I think gauges are dumb on a street car. My street car has a wideband that stays on it with lean protection so I don't really see the need for any gauges.

Re: What kind of gauges do you run?
Datalogs are great and my ecu logs most everything I need. Definitely agree that is much better and a must for reviewing data as opposed to just trying to recall your gauge readings from memory. That said, having gauges for quick visual reference is far from dumb. Do I think you need 100 gauges all over the car, no... but an accurate oil pressure gauge, boost/ vac, and wideband... sure.

Re: What kind of gauges do you run?
All my gauges are Defi with the exception of my wideband (AEM UEGO). The Defi's are very accurate and the stepper motor design is much more acurate than the excited coil design most electronic gauges have. I know this is anecdotal evidence but compared to my datalogs in smanager they have proven to be extremely accurate.
