Default what ignition timing do you guys run at like 20 psi and up

I usually run like 26 degrees at like 20 psi with 9-1 compression Je's, cold plugs, crower rods and 12.2 a/f on a b18 and b16. I heard more ignition = more power if tuned right and was just wondering what some of you guys use . I'm afraid of detonation so im afraid to advance anymore, any help???

24-28 degrees dependign on fuel quality and signs of detonation.

I ran about 24 on my old LS no detonation, with the b16 forget about it hehe, I have to drop it down to 20 on pump gas of course.

phantom,
I agree. I dont think people realize that their timing increases as rpm increases.
is really uncalled for.

maybe so... considering i might have misunderstood. i thought he meant running on 10 degrees advanced from 16 (for example). ive learned that advancing time so much will cause detonation.

the pick on newbies stuff? its there for "sarcastic" purposes. people should be pickin on me? hahaha i think i should kick your a$$. dont start a flame war you WONT win.

Don't fool with Phantom, don't threaten to "kick his ***" just because you are wrong.

As rpms increase there is less time for the combustion event to occur to have max cyl pressure 12-13deg ATDC, but the combusion event takes just as long at high rpms as at lower rpms. Thus the ECU advances timing (earlier spark) because there is less time to work with.

16deg btdc stock is just the idle static setting. it's a mechanical baseline, the ECU adds timing advance on top of the static setting.

actually... i could care less about phantom... nor have i attempted to deny my fault at being wrong. his rude comment was uncalled for as well.. and shouldnt be left alone on my behalf. the "kick your ***" part was also sarcastic. like i said... i misunderstood the post and thought he meant static timing.

if anyone is offended at all by things like this.. maybe you should seek counseling. the internet and the misunderstood "actions" of typed expression is not meant to be taken seriously. ive hit this forum up for almost a year now... im still learning. i dont expect to be to be looked upon as a "newbie". im sure many knowlegable people are still newbies in some areas.

if you have a problem with me... let me know and we can handle it off the boards.

Look who is overreacting.

Edit: I'll make sure to get all the counseling I need.
