I'm not sure how many of you browse the other forums but I posted this and thought this would be helpful in what little way it could. All these thefts irk me.

Bought a sheet of galvanized steel and a rivet gun. Cut enough to completely seal the hood latch mech and lines. That prevented prying hands from reaching in the bumper. I was a victim and I WON. They just got through my grill only.

Took the same steel sheet and completely SEALED the door locking mechanism from the outside. That means, if u were to look down my window sill trying to slim-jim my ****, you see nothing but metal.

Since the door pannel was off, I CUT the door lock latch bar in half and bolted it to the door. I have door locking actuators that work with my alarm to take care of the locking/unlocked duties.

drilled horizontally, straight through the trunk release latch and stuck a metal peg in it. That prevents someone from using a hanger to pull the latch. the peg is easily removed by hand from the inside if u need to open the hatch buts its impossible w/o.

I replaced the rear key lock with a cylinder lock. no screwdriver and pliers getting in there.

I installed hood locks.

Shaved the door handles.

I mounted my amps in the rear panels. to you EG owners, behind the speaker grills.

I've 2 fuel cut-off switches in DISCREET locations. I couldn't stress more clearly to people who do that mod to NOT show that **** off. keep it a secret, but tell a non-loudmouth family member where it is just in case of emergency.

I painted the bling chrome 3" muffler W/OUT tip and associated piping flat black.

Painted the eye catching shocks flat black.

All this and I garage my car at night.


edit: yes, the plate is ps'd.

I suppose the car was flashy as it was, but as I wised up, I did what I could to make it less flashy. If I were to build a honda again, trust me it would be a plain jane car, kicking everyones *** with a bike rack on it.

I can say this now because the car is being parted out and being put to stock. Hopefully some of you can find some useful info from this post.

DOPE ideas but do you have any picutres of how-to with sealing the door locks from the outside?? and the hood latch from the bumper?? Help us out!! Great ideas and good looking out!

where did you get the hood locks? are they like hood pins, but with lock cylinders in them?

Unfortunately, I didn't document the install. It's actually quite simple though.

For the hood latch, simply remove your bumper and supports. I dont have AC so I dont know if its that easy for others, with the latch and cables exposed, I used a piece of butcher paper to make a template, then cut the metal out with tin snips. drilled the 10m holes in the chassis and fastened the sheet with rivets.

The door was really hard to work with since u have limited space to move around. I had to unbolt the window guide to move it out of the way. Then I just played the thief and visualized what needed to be covered and how much to prevent access to the rods.. The metal sheeting starts from the very top of the window sill. It is probably 8" wide and 14" long. I managed to squeeze in approximately 8 rivets to secure the metal.

I picked up those cylinder-lock hood locks from Pep Boys. I think they were around 25 bux for a set of 3.

sweet!.. for the key lock in the trunk.. you can just buy any cylinder key lock?

Yes, for the rear only, in the EG, can't speak for other models, the install was bolt in.

this is a good post im not denying that at all and it is a ****** embarassment to honest hardworking people that we have to do this **** but seriously,, by you posting all the **** you have done to defend against thieves, they will come for your **** with a tow truck!!!!!!! nothing can beat that ****!! i swear to god,, people on here must think only the angels of honda building go onto this site!!!! thats just not reality....come on guys think about it

I just got my hands on an OLDSKOOL paging alarm (from before some-such FCC regulation came into effect on transmitter power) and it has a 4 watt transmitter, good for about 2 miles(new ones are 0.25-0.5 watts). One thing I will do in the next few days is to disconnect the interior power lock button on the driver's side door [93 Civic Coupe]. All a thief has to do is stick a slim-jim/coat hanger in between the window seal and glass to press it. Sadly, this is how some anus DUG my deck and seperate tweeters out of my car, last year. Also, instead of putting a peg in the trunk release, I just keep it locked from the inside.

The sad thing about all this is that if someone wants into your car, they just have to break the freakin' glass and yank some stuff (gauges/afc/stereo/etc.) so, unless you know a place with a deal on bulletproof glass or safety tinting...

My DX EG didn't come with a locking trunk latch. Thats why I 'pegged' it. It would have been nice to have a lock though.
