Default What does it take to run a Civic radiator?

I have a turbo GSR motor running a stock GSR radiator that has some leaking issues. I have the opportunity to get a brand new Fluidyne radiator for free and would like to know what it takes to run a Civic radiator in my turbo Integra? I do not plan on using the AC and actually will be taking it out. I am going to install a FAL fan with this upgrade. I know many do this, but do I need to do anything other than just drop it in? Will the cooling capacity of a Fluidyne CIVIC radiator be similar to that of a STOCK GSR radiator?

If this is safe to do on a turbo GSR, can anyone tell me how to go about mounting it?

Thanks!

definately run the civic radiator. Lots and lots of advantages.

first get the old radiator out, then cut the tabs off of the radiator support. Then put the tabs on the civic radiator and using a marker line them up. Then mig weld them into place, its easy as hell.

some pics of a gsr

hope this helps

Thanks for your reply. Is the only way to mount the taps is by welding? Where can I get this done at? How about hoses? Will all my Integra hoses carry over? Same mounting points and lengths? In one of those pics, it looks like the Civic radiator is held on top with just one tab? Correct?

Is there anyone else that can provide a bit more in-depth of an install procedure? Not that what you said is bad, I just need more.

Thanks!

Yeah, do a PWR radiator. IM ninesecrx or earl for one. They are alot cheaper than the pwr and still great quality.

i guess if you cant find anyone to weld it or you cant, you might get away with jb weld.

mounting points are different thats why you need to relocate the lower supports, and drill a hole for the upper.

the hoses are the same.

you need to weld them if you car about the radiator stayin in your car. if you wanted to get creative with jb weld who knows

where you could get this done at is probably a radiator shop or a welding shop.

if you don't wanna cut off your existing lower radiator mount you can also fabricate a new one using any type of metal you have laying around & a rubber grommet. then you can either weld it like geoff said or use a rivet gun & rivet it into place.

"Is the only way to mount the taps is by welding?"

No. My friend did it by using screws in the spot welds he drilled out.

"Will all my Integra hoses carry over?"

They should. I don't remember him buying other hoses.

My friend used both stock mounting tabs. He drilled the drivers side one off and moved it over. Lined it upwith the radiator and screwed it in. The screws were his choice.

Right, the hoses make sense. If you put a teg motor in a Civic, you use the teg hoses. The inlet/outlet is in the same place on the teg and civic radiators.

I have seen CRX's and Teg's with Civic half radiators installed in them. Works fine and opens up alot of room. In fact a friend used my stock Civic rad for a template when grafting this radiator in his CRX. He welded the lower tabs in place I believe....really easy.

The hoses are the same....he used the Teg hoses with a DelSol Vtec radiator. The outlets were the same size.

Why can't you just bolt the tabs to the frame by drilling a hole, then bolt the radiator to the tab? Not the best solution, but I'd think it would work well.

bolting it in would work fine.

Yeah, like someone said, rivets work nice. They are quicker and alot easier. Just cleanly drill out the spot welds on the mounts and then use those holes to rivet them back to their new location.

Thanks guys. I'll try this as soon as the new radiator arrives. Also, know of any places where I can get a decent deal on SPAL or FAL fans??

Thanks!

the civic radiator has a smaller neck size than the b-series so you will need to tighten the hose clamp down a bit more. thats its

The pwr radiator is great and runs nice and cool. The fans rarely turn on on my car.

Same mounting set-up as the Civic rad.

Except: the dual core capacity and the B series size necks

yeah i saw the koyo del sol vtec one was 58mm compared to the 53mm koyo civ and since it uses better hoses i guess this would be the one to go with as long as it mounts the same and is the same length as the civic
