Unfortunatly I live in a state where we are required to have a front license plate. For those that are in the same boat, and have an intercooler...have you all moved your plate to you dashboard? Is it ok to keep the license plate there, or will it block too much of the airflow for the IC?

I am supposed to have one. I took it off, bent it up a bit and put it in my trunk. I plan on claiming I hit an animal or something a few days before and I haven't been able to get to the DMV. If it works or not...I am not sure, hasn't been tested yet.

I keep it on. No sense in drawing attention to yourself. I tried to have it in the window...no dice. I even read the law online. It must be up front, no question, here in Texas.
I just don't understand why the vette and camaro guys don't get fucked with....what a shame we can't be treated as equals.

**** it, i take the ticket to the courthouse, put the liscense plate back on and get it dissmissed, take it off again before I leave the courthouse parking lot.. Ive never been pulled over for no front plate alone, they just gave it to me as in extra on a speeding ticket.

Same here. Never a ticket.. I live in Austin, and I drive to Houston once a month.

At the worst, you can mount your license plate off center. . They'll probably accept that.

I got some L brackets and nuts and bolts from the local hardware store and made a lisence plate holer. It sits off to the side, like you see on some skylines and some other jdm cars. You cant see it cause the plate sits in front of the brackets, plus it was cheap, oh yea its on a stock 92-95 civ front bumper.

OK, so how about performance wise. Does having the plate in front of the IC effect how the IC performs at all?

I keep it on during the week and take it off on Saturday nights. Most cops aren't worried about plates at that time of night.

i forget where i saw this but people in japan put the plates on hinges so when they go high speed it tilts and their ic is wide open

in norcal, no front plate violation is $100, & meter-maids can give out the tickets even when your car is parked.

Just bought L brackets from the hardware store to make the mounts. You may have to drill new holes in your plate.

Definately, anything to not give my car any reason to be pulled over.

Kind of O/T, but you could do this 007 modification to the rear when they try to pull you over for the missing front plate.

i had 3 pages of front license plate tickets on my record....how do i know this, because i called the court house once to take car of another ticket and the lady looking up my record was shocked, she said "you really dont like your front license plate do you!"

there is another option, a friend of mine did this in his 96 civic, put it off to the side, like Lancer EVO IV style....looked ok

I've had mine OFF for over 5 years, no probs. But after a recent harassment by the cops(unrelated to front plate) I've decided to put it back on. I don't want to give them a reason to pull me over and ask me to pop the hood...
I don't think it's going to make a noticeable difference in Intercooler efficiency.
