what do you think of this TURBO
Turbo has a stage 3 exhaust turbine, and an A/R of .63
The compressor has a T04E 57 trim compressor wheel (49 lbs/min)
The Compressor housing has a 3" inlet and 2" outlet.
How much HP does this turbo support?
does it worth $550 ?

you probably bought a used DSM turbo right? You get what you pay for meaning the extra money you are gonna pay for a Precision over say a Turbonetics is well worth it. Not worrying about oil seals and shaftplay or customer service.

Re: what do you think of this TURBO (TeStUdO)
thanks for understanding...but yea, i got a brand new (well 2 hrs old mani + t3/to4e) one for $275 shipped i mean, i know not all turbochargers are created equally, not by a long shot....but I figure even a cheap one would be okay for a decent amount of time. im just curious what brand it is so I can research more.

Re: what do you think of this TURBO (MikeMAN)
My friend has it on his B16 and I can tell you from experience that the design isn't too great but he hasn't had any problems of it so far. He's definetly going to upgrade to a better manifold in the future. It's one of those Stone Racing Manifold/Turbo/Downpipe/Wastegate combo off of Ebay. He got the turbo for $300 because he bought everything as a combo.

Re: what do you think of this TURBO (CRV Monster)
im seriously considering one of those ghetto combos... but all these stories about cracked manifolds and having to brace it sucks. and the turbo too, i dont want to bust after 20 miles on the road

That means you spent more. Knowledge buys more than money does. Do you honestly think your turbo is 6.75 times better or will last 6.5 times longer because you paid 6.5 times as much?

Actually it's a Garrett T3 60 trim turbo. .60/.63. Not bad for $100.
Now what happens if I would have paid $50 for that same turbo? Does it mean Im getting $50 less worth of turbo? No.
So If I buy a turbo from someone for 250 that was originally 500 does that mean I got 250 worth of turbo? Not necessarily.

Re: what do you think of this TURBO (racinskittle)
I think the point is there are some great deals out there on used parts...BUT you normally get what you pay for. Most too goo to be true deals are just that.

I agree with that. But it isn't good to assume that more $ = better either. Anyhow, CiVic SiR, what is the rest of your setup? Block prep etc.

There have been posts about those Stone Mountain turbos shitting after a few miles... I would stay away from them and go with a more reputable brand like Garrett. Turbos are far more complex than manifolds, and I wouldn't even buy a manifold from Stone Mountain.
