Okay,
Im kinda in a little delima. Right now I have a 1994 Acura Integra RS. I had the car for about 6 months now. I owe about $7,000, I bought it for $9,500. Right now I really really want a turbo, I have been planning on buying a the DRAG 3 since the day I bought the car. This morning I started thinking. If with the money for the turbo the I have saved and will continue to save till I have enough, I buy a 96'ish Honda Civic cx Hatch back for like $3000 to $4000. I have been seeing them around with very high miles and thrashed for around that price range. Then I will sell my Integra (great condition) for around $10,000 to $11,000 (Acura's go for alot in my area). Pay off my current loan and I would have around $3,000 to $4,000 left over. Then I would get a $5,000 personal loan. That would leave me with around $8,500 to spend on a new engine and turbo. I was thinking I would finda a B18C block, have it sleeved, B16a2 head port and polished by portflow, eagle rods, je pistons, LS tranny, custon turbo(hopefully the Maniflod, turbo and down pipe Geoff Z10 is selling, if I can still get it), Hondata 3b, and all the rest of the tubo goodies. I havent wrote it all out on paper but all that stuff should be in my price range if I assemble and install it all my self. Does anyone think this would be a better idea then turboing my integra with the b18b? I love my Integra and how it looks, but I also love how the civic hatchback look when they are done up to look like a Civic Type R. And the car would just flat out haul ***.

Any suggestions or ideas would be helpfull.

That sounds like a good plan. If you do sell your teggie for that much then let me know I want to sell mine there for 20K . Good Luck and if it were me and you dont mind the body style maybe go with a 92-95 hatch (I like the 96-00 better too) since you could get one of those for about 1000 thrashed with high miles. That route does sound like it's feasable and you can definately put together the engine/turbo for that amount of money, just spend wisely.

The main thing to watch out for is any maintainance that will be needed for the civic, as it will take a while for you to piece everything together for the engine/turbo. Unless if you get everything for the swap ready before you buy the civic. But then the longer you wait the more the price of the teg will drop, so....

Wow, I gotta remember to post my car ads at Redmond, Oregon! I'll make that drive anyday for that kind of added resale value.

It sounds like you've done a good amount of research on your project. Go for it!

While getting it all put together, your CX hatch project will probably put you in a lot of car down-time where you're gonna have to leech rides from your friends or take the bus a lot. That's the only problem I foresee.

Integras sell like crazy in Oregon!!!! I shopped for about 6 weeks for mine, it was the best deal I could find. It was bone stock with 75,000 miles and the lowest I could get it for was $9,500! The day I got mine I went to Portland shopping, I had 4 or so in mind that were at the dealers or owners the day before when I called about them, by the time I got to portland that morning at about 11:00 they had all sold. I was so pissed. Anyways so me and my dad decided to go shop around, and at the last dealership we stopped at I noticed a black integra sitting behind the dealership so I asked about it, they just go it that day, they didn't even have time to wash it. I test drove it, liked it, offered them $8,500 for it and the guy pretty much laughed and said I better go look at that 90 integra across the steet. Then I asked him what he was planning on selling it for and he said not less than $11,000. So then my dad told him I could only go as high as $9,500 and he said he would go "ask his boss". about 10 minutes later he came out and said he would take it. I really wanted a GSR but the cheepest I could find(without 140,000 miles and no huge gash in the fender) was $13,000. Im not sure why they are so expensive hear, they just are. It could be because Oregon only has 2 Acura dealers I guess.

Im sorry ryan but I dont think you will get $11,000 for your car. Then again if you piece it alltogether you will have one hella fast ride.

if you are shopping for a car look on ebay.. i paid 10,600 for mine as it sits right now.. 94 LS, 140K on chasis, 20K on built motor, eagle rods, je pistons, block guard, leather interior out of 98 gsr, skunk 2 coilovers, 17" wheels and tires, full body kit, custom paint, msd ignition, msd btm, s-afc, custom stereo, i know i am forgeting some stuff but o yeah i almost forgot drag III kit

DAMN MAN, your teg is expensive. If you really look, you can find a GSR under 10k easily in the oregonian. As for a beat up hb for 1k, hell, ill drive o reymond if you can find me one. Good luck with your plans.

i had to fly out to VA Beach.. well actually i flew to like baltimore then took a bus to Va beach but it was all worth it.. i think it cost me like 200 bucks to get out there and drive the car back...

A guy I know just bought a 95 Prelude DOHC Vtec for like $6000 on ebay, he had to fly to Great Lakes IL to pickit up. Then he and a friend drove strait back to Redmond Oregon, only stoping for food! He got a great deal, its a clean fast car!
