Default what do you guys think about these prices for machine work?

Ok ive been looking for a reputable machine shop in my area for a while now but theres not really many ways i can find out if the shops around here are good or not. Theres one reputable shop thats well known and i know they have the equipment to do the job right but there prices are steep. To measure each piston and hone each cyl individually to each piston is $90 and to balance the whole assmbly (pistons rods crank flywheel clutch pulley) is $295. Would you guys just pay these prices and know that you have it done right? or can any local machine shop do as good of a job? I want the piston/wall clearance to be .0028 as per endyn...you gotta have pretty good equipment to get that accurate dont you think? Thanks

you pay the price to get good work thats all there is to it.. that seems very fair in pricing as well.

Those prices seem fine to me. I wouldnt hesitate as long as you know they are worth taking your business to.

the balancing is good is that 90 each cylinder or all if it is all then that is ok. at my machine shop for a basic hone it is 8 for each cylinder but a percision hone is more not sure how much.

Im pretty sure the 90 is all cyls because the rest of the pricing looks like all cyls like bore&hone is like 150 and cleanup hone is 58 those have to be all cylinders.

yeah I ghot chaRGED $8 PER CYLINDER. But quite honestly you're not building a rocket ship. People get so worried about the machine shops they have available. In my opinion a machine shop would have to be seriously lacking to **** up a simple re-build.

just my $.02
