Default What to do with an audi a6 2.7t and $1k?

This is a question for my friend. He just purchased an audio a6 with a 2.7t engine. He has about a $1k budget and is looking to upgrade. He really just wants to upgrade for speed not suspension and such. I personally dont know **** about these engines or what upgrades are the best bang for the buck so i thought id ask here.

What is the best bang for buck on a $1000 budget? Audio a6 2.7t bone stock.

Thanks

i'd do an air intake, exhaust and better recirculation valves.

downpipes and exhaust, save up a little more and then chip it...best bang for the buck on S4/A6 2.7tt.s

Call APR and get a chip. ~600. That will give you 318hp/382tq. Upgrade the diverter valves and get an exhaust.

I have an Audi A4 1.8T, and trust me the chip is the best bang for the buck. If that power is not enough for him, look into a Stage 3 kit or browse around ATPturbo.com

platinum.

A chip and water/methanol injection for sure. There are some before and after logs from an S4 I installed a Devils Own kit on here. http://www.miataturbo.net/foru...=5436

They are near the bottom of the first page.

bump for more info seems like chip/diverter valves and exhaust are the dominant suggestion

If you are loocking only for extra HP, buy CHIP from MTM, they are the best ones. I would also out a 3" exhaust on it. It helps alot.
This engine ist the same one from the S4. It hast two K03 turbos on it. I wouldn´t go above 350HP this engine are not so trong has the one from the RS4. A friend of me has 410HP on it and he has too much problems.

For a grand you will not get much you can get a chip and a set of divter valves. I would go with the GIAC X chip best bang for your buck and also produces the most HP. Tell your friend to jump on audiworld.com and go under the B5 S4 section. It is the same motor as the B5 S4's. As far as down pipes, bigger turbo, front mount it is crazy expensive for the S4's and they are a pain in the *** to work on.

i'm partial to APR since that's what i ran. best bang for the buck and smooth powerband. the GIAC chip just didn't feel as smooth. i saw 1-2 more psi though.

I concur. The "chip" is actually an ECU reflash which you have to send it in. My friend paid ~$650 for that service, turbo-back exhaust's are ~1200+. ECU reflash made quite a bit of difference though.

We all called APR weak sauce over on audiworld. It is smoother and prob a little better for the life of the turbo but pure power I would go with the X chip.

Also with the chip you can get it reflashed or socketed(sp) so you can remove it and put your stock chip back in if warrenty is still in question. Or the other option is the flash loader.

Also tell your friend to spend the money and get a vag-com. Once you start dicking with these cars that will be the best money you ever spent. Plus you can do some cool tricks with the vag com.

that's another reason i went with APR. i could make my boost changes using my cruise control buttons.

x376120876213094871 on the vag com. you WILL need it.

what is the currect price on the X chip with all options?

I have not priced them in a while but I am sure you can pick up a used chip off audiworld or ebay.
