what clutch for my set up????? 400+whp help me say good ridens to all motor !!!!!
i'm all motor now making 198whp 151 tq. i have the act hdss whihch is rated at 240tq. i'm pulling the head and changing pistons and rods to eagles and je's and puting in a t3 60-1 stage 5 wheel .82ar. should have about 3xx hp on 91 octane and 4xx hp on race gas
what clutch ?????
i know my act heavy duty pp and organic disc will not hold. if i just swap out the disk to a act 6 puck the clamping load will be uped to 310 tq. i still dont think that will hold will it??
should i get the act extreem pp and 6 puck rated at 408 tq. up grade to the extream pp and keep my organic disk rated at 310tq. or get a excedy stage 2. i have no idea what that is rated at. or get a action 2m6 which i think is rated at 450hp
also are all these ratings whp or flywheel hp??? and what are the clutches you guys are running for about 450whp.
ps i am not willing to fork out the $$ for a twin disk

Re: what clutch for my set up (riceball777)
I was running an ACT Maxx Extreme with street and strip disc and it help up pretty good. As soon as I installed my turbo I killed the ss disk, I was only running 10psi and untuned, so that just shows you how weak the ss disc is.
I just bought a 4 puck unsprung disc from ACT to replace the ss and that should fix the problem. My friend runs the same combo in his car (has seen over 400whp and a hell of alot of passes) (maxx extreme/4 puck disk) and his clutch grabs like a ****, the only downside to the good discs is that the engagement is rough and they eat the hell out of the flywheel.

hate act clutches.... ran several of them. kept snapping axles cuz drivetrain shock was too much. unstreetable clutch IMO.
Went Action 2ks and have never hard a problem and never looked back.
just my opinion.

the action 2ks wont support my power though, i think its only rated at 350hp
if i were to get action i would need the 2ms (6 puck sprung) or 2md (6 puck not sprung). any have any experanced with these action clutches and how much power can they hold???

i think you should do the 2x or the maxx with the 6 puck unsprung that should get you for up to a year of some hard passes at 400hp i have a buddy that has ran it at 600hp with 24.5 by 8in slicks that only lasted for 3 runs and 2 burn outs lol but now me and him run tilton

ohh shoot my bad. missed the 4xx hp goal comment. ok well I have driven cars with the RPS puck clutches. very impressed with em. very streetable and pretty smooth engagement. So guess a revamp. RPS or Action (2ms/md) would be what i would shoot for. Also heard good things about clutch masters clutches as well but I dont have any first hand experience with em. just my thoughts.
