What car should i buy for sohc fi turbo
im about to sell my 96 civic ex cuz
i want a car to turbo, has to be less than 3600 though, so which car would be good to turbo in the honda family cuz i know the d16y8(current engine) is not so good as of bearings spinning, and id have to buy a new ecu, i want a car that would be reliabe on stock internals up to 210hp or less, and is the d16z6 safer to turbo than the y8

just keep the 96 and turbo it.... if you want you can upgrade the oil pump to a high flow/pressure. My bone stock y8 lasted several years at 250whp.

My D16Z6 was making about 200whp & ran for over a year & a half with nothing more than head studs.
I'd say either keep the '96.

If you want to do a D16 turbo on a stock motor then pick a Civic 1988-2000.. pretty much sums it up.

ok well i still have my car up for sale and hopefully itll sell on sunday(guy might come to see it) its got 80,000 miles and i got it up for $3400. so im gonna have to get a diff car now, i might get a older gsr and go all motor or buy another civic but a hb, does anyone know the diff between d16y8 and d16y5 or is it just a diff trans, ill prob get a newer d16y8 and like u said get an aftermarket oil pump. i can get the turbo(td05 from mitsu eclipse) for like 40 bucks and piping will be free on me, blowoff valve, wastegate intercooler and injectors will be needed, maybe a fuel pump, itll cost me about $500 total, how mich will ecu and tuning cost anyone know

Uh.. I think you should figure out what you want and then make a thread.. a ghetto dsm turbo setup is going to suck, and real tuning is typically 400-500$
