what axles can handle large amounts of HP
I'm not really sure where to ask this since it deals with a crx with a prelude motor that uses accord midshaft, 88-89 integra axles and is FI but I'll try here, lol. My HP goal is to hit 600 and everything is strating to come together. The one thing I havent looked into is different axles though. With the midshaft and axles that I am currently using because of the H22 swap I was wondering is I could gather some suggestions on if I need to upgrade and if so what brand I should look into buying. Is Raxles the only place to go through?

call them, ask for Marco, tell him Aaron told you to call. Tel:819-595-0400
they make my axles for both drag cars. AWD Audi, and VW. they make axles for Honda guys in the 9's with no trouble.

Haha dont run stock. Ive broken 2 OEM honda axles with 430 whp, one was under boost in second gear, not launching! You are asking for a wreck with OEM axels and 500+ whp

there are 2 kinds of people with stock axles, people that dont break them, and people that always break them. i hate fixing crap between rounds. and there are those that would rather break axles than trannies. im not one of them.

LMFAO
I have 1500 miles on a set of Pep Boy's axles, 3 street tire passes and 2 slick passes at 550+ launching at 7500 and mine didnt break. However they kept me from making a 3rd pass as they coated my slicks in grease, and I was downright paranoid the whole time I had them on. To be honest I would rather do 150 in the quarter with not one lick of safety equipment than make another pass with stock axles.
For 600hp the DSS 3.9's seem to work great and I plan on using them for over 750hp. My friend is a tranny/axle killer and his 3.9's held 600hp/420tq for 40+ passes without an issue, I think the Evans's used the 3.9's in their old 9sec CRX, not sure if they ever broke them though.

ok, well earlier I talked to the guy a Raxles, i forgot his name. But anyways he said to run stock. He said that its a waste of money because of the angle that the axles sit at. He said the ones that are supposable bulletproof break just as often as the stock ones because of the angle they sit at, it has nothign to do wiht the material they're made of.

tried telling me that an inner cv joint cannot cause a vibration. i had a bad pair from him and they were shaking their *** off, and when i put in my dss level 1's the vibration went away, he said thats impossible. and him saying high dollar axles are a waste of money and dont do anything better than stock, wow
guess ill sell my 5.9s and get a set of his.

Re: what axles can handle large amounts of HP
I have to agree to go with stock although they make break from time to time but what doesnt when your pushing over 400hp. But again that is exaclty my point as well if you strengthen your axels something else is bound to break ...........Tranny hint hint. I would much rather replace an axel then tranny gears . I have seen several friends pushing well over 500 to 600 hp on the drag strip with slicks and have gone a full sean or two before they need to replace due to wear and tear not breaking.

Re: what axles can handle large amounts of HP
I have run stock (kragen reman) axles for 1.5 years in my coupe... 1.70-1.80 60 fts 9k rpm .. roughly 375 hp.. (b16) probably would be an issue with real power tho. DSS is worth the investment...

Re: what axles can handle large amounts of HP
Last year I put 150 passes on my 370whp stock axles, good preloading never had an issue...This year going for 500whp I upgraded to 500whp axles, just for peace of mind

Re: what axles can handle large amounts of HP
I picked up 2 seconds from street tires to slicks on the first pass, after that pass I said no more street tire passes for me, its like trying to accelerate on ice when racing on radials.
