What about P&P LS Head w/404s on stock JDM GSR shortblock for boost?
Would this setup be worth a damn? Looking to put an LS head with springs retainers mild port and polish 404 cams on JDM B18c1 block for about 10PSI of boost with rev hard kit and Hondata or neptune. Daily driver 260-280 whp goal. I figured the big cams reving to 9k would be pretty badass and the GSR bottom could take the revs. Just an idea I had. Let me know what you think. Help me out with your opinion, good or bad.

Also what head gasket would be good? LS or GSR? Read a few old posts, found nothing useful as far as how good it is.

why not do the same **** to a GSR head and rev to 10K and make more driveable power, that would be badass.

The way i see it, the big cams need to rev, the GSR block will handle it. Its basically a cheap low compression boost motor. I dont really want to boost the GSR longblock stock. The compression is pretty high.

i have never heard of someone putting an ls head on a vtec block. its like down grading.
why would you not want to build the gsr head instead? or even use the money and build the bottom end of the gsr, which would be much more worth it.

How do you figure LS head on a JDM GSR block equal to low compression engine? If anything, the LS short block will yeild lower compression than the JDM GSR shortblock with any given head. What you can do is trade/sell the JDM GSR shortblock to me and build a killer LS motor.

For starters the Crower 404 cams arn't even as big as the VTEC lobes on the B16 cams, so don't think you're automatically going to have some monster motor that flatlines torque to 9K.
Two, the non-VTEC head has weak-*** stamped steel rocker arms and other parts that make it flat out not as good as a VTEC head. A VTEC head plus a thicker head gasket will be cheaper than a ported LS head that isn't done by somebody shady plus the cams and valvesprings, and a GSR head would make more power anyways.

Cant really argue with that. Just an idea I had. I decided against it. Too many things to go wrong.
For the record that head WILL fit. Im sure of it.
Thanks for the opinions.

There was a thread floating around awhile ago that had a vtec bottom end an ls head.
Im on the use-the-ls-bottom and end out w/ similar power for less

Re: (Scrapin4DR)
p+p ls head on a gsr block is a bad idea and not worth the trouble. if you have the gsr head, sell that **** and get a b16 head that will drop the compression. i have a ported polished b16 head for sale with skunk 2 valve train and stainless steel valves btw
