Default Welp 35miles on the new turbo setup, and the motors BLOWN...

Well I took the car out just after I finished putting the car back together, and everything was working great. I had great oil pressure until I got about 20 miles from my house, when my oil light went on, and my gauge read 2psi.

I pulled over, checked the oil, and it was exactly what I left the house with...? at the time I just thought it would be an electrical problem, causing both the gauges to read low....so I got back in, started it up (sounded, and drove great) and babied it towards home even though the light was still on.

Not a minute after I started it up again I heard this clink, clink, clink, Clink, Clink, CLINK, CLINK, BOOM, and it died in a huge cloud of smoke.

This pisses me off SOOO much. I spent all last week fixing a blown headgasket from it's first trip around the block, and now this.

I'm taking a 4-6 month break from this car, and focusing on the more important things in life (my girl, school, and my buisness).

One question though...

How could I end up with low oil pressures from just taking the head off, and replacing the gasket? I had perfect pressure before I pulled the head.??? I'm so confused.

damn whats with freaking luck lately.. geez everyone having issues..

I would assume the only thing that caused oil pressure drop is pump it self got air pocket or something happend to it.

Sounds like your oil pump croaked. If you still had full oil and didn't do anything below the head, the replacing of the headgaskset and lack of oil circulation are probably just unrelated bad luck.

To be honest, with all the bad luck I seem to be hearing about, and witnessing my self, It makes me extreemly nervous about putting $3000 into my built motor.

Dang, that happened to my D16Y8, except my #4 rod went out the oil pan instead. I had heard some rod knock from my block for a while though, so I pretty much expected it to go.

if the oil pump went, oil pressure should be at 0...
maybe something is stuck in an oil passage... i had part of my shattered oil pump gear sitting in my oil pick up for day.
"Why's my oil pressure so low?" ::scratches head:: what a bad day that was.....

but ****. that's shitty.

finaly someone with luck as bad as me.

Not trying to be a dick but you really shouldn't have driven it with the oil light and the oil pressure gauge showing that low oil pressure because there's soemthing really wrong. Your gonna have to open it up to see why you didn't have any oil pressure. The oil pump most likely went (you have an aftermarket crank pulley?) and the motor was getting starved for oil.
Could you somehow when you replaced the headgasket dropped **** down the little oil hole feeding oil to the head? Just some thoughts. Good luck with your car.

Either your oil pump went. Or something fell or was left in an oil passage, blocking it.

Maybe this'll make you guys feel better? This, at one time, was a stock 5.0 mustang block. Didn't blow up because something went wrong, blew up because too much POWAH!

(yes, the block did split right down the centerline)

That sucks.

I drove 50 miles in a civic with the oil light on. About 10 miles before it blew I pulled into a gas station and heard it knockin.....at first I wasn't sure if it was a bad sensor or what. That pretty much told me it wasn't.

I kept going then, and about a mile from where it blew I could feel the engine gettting more and more sluggish.

I knew I had to get off and right when I went on the off ramp it just froze up. Nothing blew out, it just stopped cold.

Lesson: Never buy a car off ebay without seeing it in person first.

I agree completely, and I even knew this before this happened....However, Like I said, at the time, me and my DSM freind beleived it was just faulty ground wiring for the pressure senders (they have the same ground wire).

I should have stoped, but **** happens...

It is a good time to reflect on what really matters though. I really want to utilize this time as a positive influence on my life, and not be pissed off that I've driven my beloved car a total of 35 miles in the past year.

You've got so much $$ and parts on that car, are you really going to be able to just let it sit?
