welding oil return line fitting on oil pan

Default welding oil return line fitting on oil pan

I did a search but did not seem to find what i was looking for. Is there a simple write up somewhere or something about the correct or best way to weld a fitting on to an oil pan for the oil return line from turbo. Like what fitting is best to use and what type of wire for the weld and where to place the fitting???? any help is greatly appreciated......soon to be boosted :-)

drill a hole and weld a fitting towards the top of the oil pan,
that is all

also sink the fitting right into the pan and weld it on both sides..

i guess my kit comes with the fittings though i am buying the peak boost top mount kit

An easier way still - buy a 2nd t3 drain flange. 3 holes, 2 bolts, 1 layer of permatex silicone. I actually took a 3/16" steel plate & a steel 1/2" NPT cap and made one. I did it so I could get an angle on it, and so far its fine. Plus you don't have to weld on the thin pan metal, and zero pan metal has to be repainted. Mine uses the typical 1/2" barb and 1/2" ID stainless/teflon-lined line. Its also easy to plug as well as cap off for whatever reason.

As for placement, you usually want it as high as you can get it, right in between 2 cylinders. Just make sure you use a stud for that pan bolt above it!
