Which way would be better.....
 
I currently have d16z6 that needs rebuilding anyway. I was thinking of building it a little and putting a snail on it. I have been told that they do pretty well like this and I have been told it's better to just do a swap.
The price of the turbo stuff aside would it be worth it to spend the extra money to do the swap and still have to build a motor too?
I'm not looking for a land rocket just some fun when I smash the pedal.
Do the d16s do decent on boost or is it a waste of money?

Research bro there are plenty of d16 builds out there so you can if they would reach your goals with your car.

The Z6 you have is the best D series motor for boost. Rebuild it with OEM parts, ARP studs and bolts, and run 10PSI through a 15G or GT28RS. You'll make 200 WHP safely and reliably all day long. Dollar for dollar, if you shop right, it'll cost you the same as a properly rebuilt LS swap, which will only net you 140-150 to the crank. 200WHP >> 150BHP.

If you've been told turbocharging a Honda by others, you definitely need to research more before you get way over your head. That's why there are so many "UNFINISHED" project cars floating around in the classified section along with Craigslist.

I plan on doing plenty of research, just asking for opinions. I don't want to put all this work into something that is only mildly better. lol.
I don't plan on doing an ebay set up either. I've ran plenty of turbo set ups, just on air cooled VWs.

Really its all up to you. The D series do fine boosted and can make a lot of power but it is easier to make power with a B series Vtec motor. Budget wise it would be better to do a pistons and rods build on the D16 and boost it with a 50 trim Garrett and go for 300whp. As said you do have the best D16 out there already so there really is no need for you to swap it out. If I had a Ex instead of a Hx Civic I would be driving a pistons and rods D16Y8 turbo instead of swapping for a LS Vtec then boost that. Due to the motor swap I am a long way off from a turbo kit at this point due to the cost of the motor swap. All in all I would say I $3000 in everything related to the Ls Vtec swap. The money could have gone to a turbo kit.

In a deal for some parts I cleaned out a shed for someone at a mom and pop shop. They gave me whatever I wanted before it went to the junk yard. So now sitting in my garage aside from the other stuff I got I have an F22 motor, and a B18 motor as well as my D16 in the car. Both other motors need a rebuild but are all there minus a broken distrib and missing tb on the F22. All for $130.
So now the question is, what one to build? lmao man, I don't know Hondas......
Oh and a tranny attached to the B18..

Do a mild build on the B18 and boost it.
