Water Methanol Injection Questions?
So let me start off by saying I've searched and found little info on this when it comes to this being used on Hondas and I'd like to have one thread dedicated to the discussion of it in case anyone else is looking into it. I read through some of Calidads thread and found some good info but im sure I missed alot of it.
Id like to get some good info posted up from you guys that know about it, as I just started looking into the use of it and really want to use it on my build.
Some of my questions,
- Any cons to water meth injection besides costs?
- Wheres the best place to inject? Pre tb, pre turbo, intercooler?
- What % mix are you guys using? 50/50, 60/40, 70/30? And is that dependent on conditions/set up/preference?
- Are you guys mixing your own or buying premixed? If your mixing your own what are you using?
- What are some of the pros/cons of the different kits? I heard the Aem uses a progressive system, while others use an on/off approach?
- I take it the Aem kit is the best choice out there? (Ill be using Hondata S300v2)
- About how fast can I expect to go through 1gal. of mix on a 4-500hp B series?( I know this will depend on a couple different things, but about how much?).
- Is anything else recommended when adding this kit to your car?(part wise)

my cheap coolingmist.com kit is injecting directly out of the washer fluid bottle....yes.... windshield washer fluid with the smallest injector possible....most washer fluids come with a 50/50mix with some small trace of detergents which makes little to no difference to the mix. it works well..
you want to inject it pre t/b...a good 6-8" away from the throttle would be good. the AEM kit is quite good....but finding a place to mount the pump is a PITA....
the only con to the system is if the pump fails your tune will run a little leaner and it more prone to ping/knock. you need to run your tune overly rich so that it's not totally dependent on the injection kit to run safely. tune for about 11.5:1afr or slightly richer.
which reminds me....i need to go out and test my pump to make sure it's still working....hahaha....

Learnt something today.
I believe i came across some info that says the AEM kit has a built in safe mode for wen ur fluid levels are getting low, and a boost over run safety mechanism

I just finished installing mine. Running a 70/30 mix by weight. 96 fl oz of meth to 32 fl oz of distilled water. Its beind controlled through hondata on a nitrous switch, so basically 2 tunes.
