Default wastegate issues, and questions. help is appreciated.

so ive bought an ebay Wastegate to toy around with for a little while, until i can get a Tial, i get the wastegate today along with the manifold, and everything looks fine, a little rust on the wg but no biggie, and i try to line up the wg with the flange it came with and it doesnt fit, the wastegate is too big to fit into the flange, or the manifold, my question is how do i know if i got sent the wrong size, it was supposed to be a 38mm but i have a feeling they sent me a bigger one, and sent me the flange for the 38. ive contacted them and am waiting for a reply.

i also want to know what port the vac line form the turbo or IM goes into, the top or bottom? because the wastegate i got only came with one port and that was the top one, the side port is just open threads, so if i run the vac line to the top and leave the side port open will i see any problems?

thanks in advance

Post a pic...all 38 and 35mm uses the same flange, diamond shape with 2 bolts on the opposite long ends.

You should've buy a tial in the first place and may not run into this problem. I have had customers with Ebay WG and it broke off, almost to cause his motor to let go.

take the fitting off the top and put it on the side. the top port is usually used for a boost controller.

yes, the wastegate has the diamond shaped flange w/ the 2 bolts.

just measured them up, the flange is about 38mm in diameter where theres the little step for the wg lip, while the wg measured from the outer edge of the metal lip to the oposite end is about 44mm, im not sure how the wastegates are classified measurment wise, but i know that fitting a 44mm circle into a 38mm circle is not going to work.

and yes, i do plan on buying a TIAL in the future sometime
