Want to Boost 03 Honda Accord
where would I start?
I've been told the k24 engine is not good to use. Any recommendations on what block to use?
I'd like to build an engine with forged internals, and run a turbo on my 03 honda accord. It would make for a great sleeper and it'd be fun
thanks

Ok, first thing, what is your power goal? Second, how much money do you have to put into this project (main factor)? If you only want so much HP, there isn't a reason for forged internals. List your goals and I'm sure there are plenty of eager beavers waiting to give you ideas.

Re: Want to Boost 03 Honda Accord
you mean manual transmission? yes it's a manual transmission. 5 speed. it's also all stock as far as the drivetrain goes.
To be honest, I know NOTHING about imports, what kind of horsepower they can or cannot make. it'll be a gradual build. knowing me, i could say a horsepower amount and it wouldn't be enough.
so how bout I'd like to build a forged engine that can handle a lot of boost and horsepower. something that's fast as in 11 or 12 second 1/4 mile fast.
i've messed around with Ford Mustangs in the past, so my knowledge is pretty limited to domestics.

maybe you could help a fella get started in the right direction, because being uninformed means not knowing what to look for or where to look, and I've googled stuff, but there's too many broad results that don't seem to have the specifics I'm seeking.

Let's start with what you are familiar with, so I don't start accidentily talking down to you. Domestic guy before this? European? Any turbo background at all? Experience with tuning systems and their importance?
Unfortunately, the car you picked is not what I would call a good "beginner" car to start out on.

I know a teeny bit about turbo's, they run off exhaust gases, ball bearing turbo's have relatively low spool up rpm requirements. that's about the extent of my knowledge. no tuning experience myself, I've always paid someone to tune my cars, and I have a good tuner that does both imports and domestics, so tuning won't be a problem. If i can get a proper block built with forged internals and a different head, and some intake/exhaust manifolds, and proper cams, this thing could be lot's of fun.
no probably not a good beginner car, but that'll make it all the more fun, because no one in their right mind would ever expect a 4 door accord to open up a can of whoop ***.

Becoming familiar with the search function is the best start for this forum. You'll find all kinds of good info. I've posted this link in a couple other threads concerning the subject:

It's a starting point. Good luck.

I've very new to the import scene, so all the b16, k24 stuff is all new to me, and I have no idea what kind of power each block can hold, what heads or cams I should use, etc.
thanks for the thread! i'll check it out.
