Default Walbro 255 In-tank fuel pump question

I read a guys installion thing and he ran a Walbro 255 In-tank fuel pump right after the fuel filter under the hood. Would this work for a turbo? The other thread i read, the guy took the stock one out at the tank and replaced it with the walbro. So would it still work right under the hood?

some people run inline fuel pumps on fmu setups....but i would go w/ the walbro 255lph intake fuel pump...thats what most people do...its just a replacement

the 255 isnt going to funtion very well if its being fed by your stock pump. just swap the OE for the walbro and be done

actually the opposite. he is using an fmu setup so an inline pump is needed to provide the extremely high fuel pressure. the 255 in-tank pumps are not gonna flow vey well above 65-70 psi. they flow plenty at stock fuel pressures but an fmu is gonna be asking for 100+ psi.

also to the OP, im sure you will hear, fmu setups are not optimal and pretty outdated. you would be better off with a chipped ecu, decent ems, bigger injectors and an intank pump.

EDIT: the 255HP in-tank pump might get you there on lower boost or a lower ratio fmu but it still dies out around 120psi and at 140 its flowing nothing.

also, you cannot use an in-tank pump under the hood. in-tank pumps are meant to go in your gas tank, hence the name. if you really wanna stick with the fmu setup you will need the inline pump that installs between the filter and the rail.

I've been thinking about doing this, but then I was told the pump will fail because it not being cooled enough. Glad to see other ppl are doing this.
