Default Walboro 255 pump, how to wire seperate relay and power???

I read some time back that it was advised to run a dedicated power wire to the fuel pump and put it on its on relay..

If any of you have done this how did you wire it up...diagram would be nice if you have one. Thanks.

I just did this on my car not too long ago, its very simple. Youre going to want to run to the store and buy a generic 12V relay (sometimes found in the lighting section at Autzone, Napa, Etc.), some 12 gauge (minimum) wire, a 30A or so fuse holder, and some of the gas tank "hole plug" (can be substituted for anything else you may find works). Pull the pump out amnd locate the red power wire, should be one of two wires going to the pump. You want to cut that and splice your 12ga in right there. Now drill a hole (be very careful) anywhere on the metal of the mount that will allow the wire to come out of the top and out of the tank. Pull the wire through, then run it to the battery, or you can install the relay there and THEN run it to the battery, your choice, dont forget to install the fuse within 12" of the battery. Now the hole you drilled will not be extremely tight, so go ahead and use some of the gas tank "hole plug" or something similar to seal it up. Now wire up the relay, there are four plugs; one goes to ground (suitable ground of your choice), one goes to the battery, one goes to the pump (the red wire you ran out for power), and the last one is a trigger (use the stock power wire at the tank connector for this). I think thats about it, if you are unsure of what is what at the relay, they come with a diagram on the back. I tried my best for a quick explanation, HTH

Is there anyway to avoid a 12ga wire bottlenecking down to the factory wire at the connector for the fuel pump?

Also is it possible to get the power signal wire somewhere in the front of the car instead of getting it back at the pump and running a wire back to the front of the car to the relay?

Everything else makes sense
