Vitara Piston Wrist Pin Lock Install. How?
Was going to drop my pistons off at the machine shop to get the wrist pin locks installed but I thought Id ask how it done first. Dont know how many people have seen them, but can I just grind down (thin) a set of needle nose pliers, stick each prong through a hole and squeeze?
I tried queezing with my fingers and I dont see it budging nor can I see the lock bending without binding it is squeezed...
How are thet installed? Will my method work
Thanks

Use your fingers to compress them. Keep trying, you can do it. I'm 60 and my hands ache and I still do it. If you use a pair of plyers you will over bend the lock and it will not spring back into place. The c-clip will pop out and you will ruin your motor.

yeah just file down the end of some needle nose pliers and only compress the ring enough to fit in,make sure you snap them into place when you put them in the hole, sometimes you think you got it all the way in but it may not bee in the groove all the way

I picked up a set of snap ring pliers @ sears. They were like 15$ for the real nice ones with interchangeable tips. They come in handy every once in a while, and make the job real easy. It's a pretty easy task -- quite hard to **** it up, just wear eye protection because if one of those bitches decides to fly... they FLY.

I tried pliers and tried fingers, fingers work better, and less chance of bending the clip. If you just push one side of the c-clip in the hole and push the other side with both thumbs, you will get it in, its easy.

Because it took about 15 second for each pin with the plies, was free, easy and I had fun destroying a good set of needle nose for my experiment
