Default Using Defi Hood for Lancer/Wrx in an EG/EJ where the center vent is?

Saw this on ebay and got me thinking. The shape generally looks the same as the center vetn on the eg/ej dash, the big ugly one on the top of the dash. I know the vent pops out pretty easily.... think there is a way to dremel this hood so it will fit in the eg/ej dash? Any lanncer/wrx owners out there who might be able to speak to its size/dimanesions in relation to the eg dash?

Thoughts? Im lookin for a visible place for some more gauges besides the apillar and also i like that this shields the gauge faces from sunglight.

by glass you mean fiberglass? Did you just use one of the 2 gauge pods and then glass it to the plastic vent or did you do it from scratch? pics?

no i dont have any pics, i cut all the center out of the vent so it was just a frame with the clips on it. then i took some cardboard tube(roller that carpet, headliner, vinyl cones on) we had at work that my gauges would pressure fit into snugly, and cut 2 short sections of it. i glued them together and to the vent frame, using backstraps, so that they were kinda sunk into it, and angled toward me. then i stretched fleece across the front of the frame and under the tubes, and another piece over the rear of the frame and up and over the tubes to the front edge, gluing where needed. and then you do the fiberglass and sanding dance until it looks the way you want. then you can paint it or whatever.

sorry for the cell phone pics

i cut out the vents, hot glue'd half of a soup can in each spot, stretched a shirt over it and hot glue'd it, fiberglass'd over it, sanded/filled, installed gauges, the end.

at one point spw had plans to make the entire gauge cluster bezel for 5th gen's, that was like the autometer piece for other civics. the one that holds 2 gauges on each side of the oem cluster. but for whatever reason they scrapped the idea before it went to production.
