Use turbo to "increase life expectency of engine" ??!!??!
I cut and pasted this from SpeedOptions. Some tuning shop/turbo designer has a section at the end of the article claiming that the use of a turbo, if properly maintained can ADD to engine life. This is new to me. What do ya think? Any legitimency?
"A properly engineered and fitted turbo will, if anything, enhance engine life. The engine will experience an increase in heat, but with boost pressure not exceeding 0,6 bar, without an intercooler, the engine will cope with the heat increase. The conrods and crank will benefit substantially as the turbo produces more power throughout the power stroke. This gives a constant load on the components and assists in cushioning the inertia loading, - with a consequential increase in life expectancy of engine components."

Makes sense I guess if it is PERFECTLY tuned and all that good stuff, but I don't know, stock internals, hmm.

Yeah, in theory maybe. Of course that is assuming the engine runs like a clock and does not detonate.

More heat is worse, period. The engine will cope with the extra heat by failing sooner. Doh!
