turning T04E into a T3/T61 by swapping compressor parts?
Hey guys,
I've been thinking about buying a new SC6152E or T3/T61 and then selling my Precision T04E 60 trim w/ stg 3 0.63 ar turbine. However Ken from Phoenixturbo gave me an idea in one of his posts.
What all would I have to swap out on the cold side to make it into an SC61 or T3/T61 or other equivalent turbo? is it as simple as swapping out the compressor fan and cover? or is there more to it then that? If I were to get it done by some place like Phoenixturbo, how much would I expect to pay for this kind of conversion? (if they even do them).
Thanks

Re: turning T04E into a T3/T61 by swapping compressor parts? (BlueShadow)
ok I found some exploded diagrams of a T04B and I'm guessing the following parts would need to be changed.
-compressor backplate & large O-ring
-compressor cover
-compressor fan
-turbine fan/shaft (?)
Now I'm not sure about having to replace the turbine fan/shaft. http://www.turbocharged.com says that the T61 is a big shaft turbo and I believe the T04E has a standard shaft. Does that mean that the bigger T61 compressor fan and cover wont be compatible with the smaller T04E turbine fan/shaft?
EDIT: or are the big shafts only for straight T4 setups, meaning I can use the T04E standard shaft with the T61 cold side?
TIA

bump
?
EDIT: if I cant upgrade my T04E 60 trim to a T3/T61 what other options do I have? can I convert it something similar to the following: T3/60-1, SC6152E, TS04 cold side, etc.

Re: turning T04E into a T3/T61 by swapping compressor parts? (BlueShadow)
So I was thinking that if I could get a GT3582R compressor housing, compressor fan, and compressor backplate then that pretty much turns my T04E 60 trim into a SC6152E. The only thing different is my turbo has a 270* thrust bearing whereas the SC61 has a 360* thrust bearing standard (I think).
The fan and housing I was looking at is the 56 trim (82mm exducer, 61.4mm inducer) and 0.70 AR housing.
so what do you guys think?
