spins fine until rods full torque, I’m planning on a disassemble tomorrow and plastigauge the rods again.....it looks so much better together ! I really don’t want to tear it back down

they have a light coat, the rods move up/down fine my hand, it just fine until the final rod bolts get torqued then the whole spinning assembly locks completely up. I’m about to dismantle this morning and clean off all assembly lube and recheck clearance again. It rotates fine with a dry assembly

Roger that. It's bugging me currently. Lol! This is after changing the bearings from the .028-.003 clearance to what it is now? This is pointing toward needing something ground or polished. I wouldn't **think** that the assembly lube would cause this particular hiccup.

foundnthe problem! Somehow between taking things back and forth to the machine shop a pair of rod caps got switched! That’s why the issue was only under full torque. I can’t believe I missed that

I figured it had something to do with those caps. Good thing it was simple! So the B doesn't have a girdle like the D?

That kinda sucks. More stuff to have to keep up with cylinder to cylinder. Girdle=easy mode. Lol! Get some pics of that head up here!

I plan on finishing up the bottom end today and tomorrow my buddy is going to help degree the cams and help find max tolerances for the camshafts

that replaces the upper main caps If im guessing, I’ve bored my mains and would require me to start over basically with a new block if that’s the case, or stripping this one down and start the machine work over....

Ah yeah. I thought i saw one somewhere. For the EXORBITANT price of 570 bucks, I don't think it'd kill me to keep up with those caps a little closer. Lol!

I have an engine with one of those. It sucks that ERL is gone now, so you can no longer get that nice product.

It doesn't replace the main caps... it sits on top of them. If you have a B16A, B18A/B or B20... the #3 (middle) main cap must be machined down to the height of the other four caps, but the GSR and ITR/CTR blocks just have to be line honed after installation.

After we finish these charts, we will have all the maximum safe adjustment limits of the motor while tuning the cams without ever having a risk of valve damage, it’s pretty intense and time consuming doing this process. We will have as much time doing degree work and engine assembly time but the engine will be spot on and we will be able to easily and safely put the cams to the recommendation from Skunk2 for maximum performance

I think you meant 10 bolt my friend. Yes, GE also offers a similar product. ERL's was the same way... fitting it required a line hone. I do not remember them offering that device for sale to the consumer, but I could be wrong. I know it was an option with their sleeveing process.

I’m learning a lot but so much of doing this is having the right tools of course. I’m sure my buddy is about to beat me with all the questions I’ve had

Progress is looking good! I've always wanted to see how the cam degreeing process is done.
