turbo'd the sohc saturday
figured i would share with others what 750 well spent dollars can buy.
yes, i am aware that the upper pipe is getting warm, i have to wrap it still... i am lazy, no, the ic does not get hot, and yes i know i need to get an air filter.
the setup
d15b7
y8 head
lightend flywheel
act clutch
lightweight crank pully
ex/si tranny
phanton slip
SRR 4.9 final drive
homemade manifold
dsm ic
el cheapo bov
dsm t25
2.5" downpipe
2.5" mandrel cat back
440 injectors
Uberdata
8 psi that likes to spike to 10
total cost of the turbo setup was just under 750. it took all winter to collect the pieces to my getto turbo setup. not bad for little more than the cost of a zex kit, and i dont have to refill it

Looks good but that "filter" scares me.
The welds on the pipes look good too.
Oh yeah be carefull about boosting to much on those rods, they are about as thick as a pencil seriously.
I boosted my d15b7 back in the day, I ran 6psi daily and it pulled nice.

Cool.. How does the phantom grip work out for you.. I have heard good things and bad things about it.. I know its ability to work good depends on if its shimmed to the correct specs..

Forget a filter, just put your grandma's sock on it. If it is going to be ghetto, have it ghetto all the way!

turn up the boost...i was running the same turbo as u on the b7 and going from 8-12 psi u can really feel the difference...8 psi was really sluggish with that turbo...

Me Like!!! Seriously though that airfilter is ghetto/dangerous use a sock i'm surprised that foam doesn't rip and fly into there.

Nice for 750...I agree with others on the filter, I'm pretty sure a few hard runs and that foam is gonna have a fight with the compressor. I hope it doesn't though.

Re: turbo'd the sohc saturday (Zer0DazE)
Nice setup... I wouldn't worry too much about upping the boost. Tuning is everything with a honda. I was running 14 psi through my d16 daily with hondata and 440's and it ran great. I took it down to 10 psi because my tranny couldn't take it but the engine is still holding up great. Good luck with it!!!

Re: turbo'd the sohc saturday (Zer0DazE)
i love it
when's the T25 top out at?
im really happy with the way you did your IC piping. i hate seeing extra piping when its completely unnecessary and detremental. i bet you could even cut it shorter if you routed it over the tranny and had it bend up to the t/b
good job man

Re: turbo'd the sohc saturday (justinh595)
Well I dunno about dangerous but when I used one of those shop rags for a filter it wouldn't boost over 1lb and wouldn't rev over like 5 grand, I dunno about the sock but you may wanna look into either a real filter or some kind of screen or mesh
