turbocharging stock ZC
Hi guys,
I am new on this forum. I have mini (the original one, not bini) that I'm planing to power with honda dohc zc (non vtec) engine. I am planing to turbocharge it as well. I have expirience with turboed engines but not with Honda ones so if someone could answer some of my questions I would ge gratefull.
1. How much boost can stock zc engine handle (for how many whp can I expect) to be on the safe side?
2. What is max ign. advance and a/f ratio for that amount of boost?
I am planing to run it on full programable ECU (fuel and ignition)
regards,
Tonci
P.S. sorry for my poor english (I'm from Croatia)

1) Boost level depends a lot on what turbo you plan to use. People commonly run over 10 psi of boost on the ZC when using the T25 that comes on the DSM cars.
2) Usually .75 deg per pound of boost of ignition retard is a good place to start. Ie, if you're running 10 psi of boost, run 10 degrees less ignition timing than you have at 0 psi for the same RPM. Overall timing can vary a lot (usually between 20 and 28 deg BTDC)
These are just some rough guidelines.

Re: turbocharging stock ZC (RedTegLS)
I have boosted a few ZCs.
I havn't pushed them past 12 psi so I don't know there limits. I used a Zdyne gold ECU and @ 7000 rpm I ran 20deg total timming at 12.5-1 AF .That is a safe amout of boost and timming and the ZC is pretty strong so you should be OK.
