Is this turbo worth $100?
My friend offered to sell me this Turbonetics turbo for a $100. He doesn't know much about it since he got it in a trade for some parts he had. All he and I know is the exhaust housing is .63 I'm not sure what size the compressor housing is. It's not marked. (Can anyone tell by the pictures what size it is?) The reason why I'm asking if it's worth a $100 or not is I'm pretty sure it needs a rebuild. I can feel alot of shaft play in and out, and, up and down. It doesn't look like the blades are rubbing on the intake housing though. Is it worth it even though it could need a rebuild? Around how much would it cost to be rebuilt? TIA

average rebuild is about $250, also looks like it has a stage 1 exhaust wheel, which will give quick spool but poor top end.

if you do buy it you still have a bigger issue...getting a down pipe & exhaust manifold to fit & seems like it's a internal wastegate turbo too.

^no, none what so ever. a standard ford 5-bolt flange will fit that, he has the choice of either running internal or external, its up to him.

Say for sure it does need a rebuild.
$100 for the turbo + $250 minimum for rebuild = $350
Is it still worth it then? I'm not sure if this turbo will even put out the power I want since I don't know the trim or A/R is. I'm planing to turbo my stock LS and I want to make around 250 whp. Can this turbo do that for me? Any help is appreciated.

you dont even need to spend that much on a rebuild; a lot of disel shops can rebuild turbo's. Or you can rebuild it yourself and if you're not confident in the rebuild you can send it off to get blanced.
