Default Turbo Tranny

Yea, I know its been asked before, but for a crx swap (needing a cable tranny) Which one would be best for a FI setup on a b18c. Im guessing the YS1 off of a LS, what about the gsr YS1 ? Anyone use that one ?

You'd probably want the LS tranny. I think the GSR tranny for those years are really short, not like the 94-up GSR.

While we are on this topic, I have always wondered why honda gave the ls the longer gears ? I used to have a b18a and those gears are waaaay too long for that motor, the engine would feel like it was killing itself to go through the gears. If anything, why the hell didn't honda give the LS's shorter gears ? Just my .02

Get a Y1 tranny or a 92-93 gsr trans. How many times does it have to be posted online?? SHORTER gearing is BETTER.

And the reason why honda gave the ls taller gearing is because the redline is lower. Ever drive an ls w/ a gsr tranny and stock redline? It's nice for performance oriented people, but it sucks for people who don't want to shift alot.

Hhahahah....the gsr trany is the worst one to run on a FI induction car. Honestly, there are lots of tranys to choose from. There are like 3 different geared b16 trans and the ls and the gsr. The gsr is super rare and expensive. Your best bet is to get a 92-up cable trany that has the bigger shaft then the 91-down. They are more durable and dont worry which make, weve studied the gears and there are some ls trans that end up having the same gearing as b16. Id say if you had the choice, go with the LS.......Mike
