Turbo shifting at Boost??
Got a little problem with my gt35r tends to shift downward when making 5-7 boost pulls. Backdoor design intercooler.
All bolts are tight when clocked in position and tighten with Red Loctite aswell. I'm thinking about making a bracket to help support the compressor housing since the traction bar sits right underneath it. I though maybe I was only seeing things, but had marked the turbo's compressor housing and indeed it had moved. Would not wanna over tighten the compressor bolt....any suggestions????? |

Is the compressor housing butt right up against the intercooler inlet (metal touching metal)... it sounds like your motor is moving enough for the compressor to hit something and shift its position.
What kind of motor mounts do you have? |
U know what??? I'd never thought about what u said......Yes, the compressor housing and intercooler has about 1/4 before touching when the silicon hose is put on. They are very close, but I'm running Hasports mounts all around.
Very possible that it maybe touching a bit causing a slight shift........thanks |

I would recommend a Hump Hose coupler.
Oh yeah and change out the seal on the compressor. If it moved then seal is probably bad so that will need to be changed. |
The more I boost 17psi the more it will continue to shift, approximately 1/2 inch per every 5-7 pulls.
Yes, hump hose is installed on all my charge pipes. I may very well need to get a new seal, but need will need to fix problem first. Thanks again |

Unless you're granny shifting it, even solid poly mounts will move some on a hard shift. If you have just 1/4" left, I'd suspect it IS hitting. Try moving anything to get more clearance, then check to see if it keeps moving.

See if you can take some pics.
If you already utilize a hump hose from the compressor to the I/C inlet then you have to check to double check 1. the clearance between turbo and I/C, if it's too close preventing the Hump coupler from doing it's job then you made need to put a little distance between then by putting the I/C further out. 2. if the coupler is too thick then it defeats the purpose of the hump. From what I found Turbonectics Coupler's are the thinness but with 2 ply nylon about 1/16" thickness which makes it very flexible. Now I know it's the BD type I/C but has anyone tried to rotate the compressor downward and then use a 90" coupler to connect to the I/C?? This might give it some more flexible length. |

Thanks for all the replys n pics!!! Well, this is what its leaning towards.........the turbo system is not getting well ventilated Boost pressure to escape causing a spike and surging of the compressor housing. In return making it shift eveytime I induce it with boost!!
ATP turbo is getting me some info at the mean time!! Yes I do have a very similar coupler as in ur pics, but the set up is very solid not rocking or anything. Tial 50mm BOV is what I have right now with Tial 44mm w/g. How much more boost press. vent do I really need. Well, I'll wait for ATP's response and hope to get this resolve soon.
