And **** at this point if it made sense would toss a k20 in and be done with it but that will be way more expensive and complicated.

I could see a 2.0 or larger being overkill...I still think a 1.8 would be a good match

with the piston, rods and cranks i have in this b16, the displacement would be 1.75liters. close enough for now.

yea true thats very close to a gsr which is 1797 from the factory. I guess building it yourself is the best bet other then sending it out

It will be extremely difficult to find especially since the block was last produced 16 years ago 81.5mm is the way to go...maybe get some oversized pistons?

not impossible to find but hard. I can either get new pistons like you said or sleeve the block which will cost the same... about $500. considering that I will need to pretty much need toss these pistons if not used, I am leaning towards sleeving the block (stock sleeves). one sleeve on this block will need to be replaced regardless if I go with new pistons or not.

I never said Impossible......I forget the wording I used but anyway shodan said impossible not me.....maybe he should edit ppls post less LOL let people type what they want to type.
but even if you found a perfect block, its still recomended to rebore to make sure all cylinders are 100% consistent anyway

I'll happily graciously change it back....... So I'll just say it.
IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND...

haha its all good just messing with you.....I knew your intentions anyway. he could go hmotors but it would cost just as much as sleeving a block and its still best to rebore those anyway to ensure all cylinders are perfectly round

The block is at the machine shop being worked on. around $500 for 4 new sleeves, bored, honed, assembly prepped/sonic cleaned, decked and I am having the line hone checked too. a local guy here will balance everything for $125 but I need to wait until my new rings showed up. he likes to have everything, including the flywheel which he checks separately

I guess I should have figured that things would be worse. According to the machine shop, the block line is to bad to use and they said the pistons are junk too because of the scoring around the ringlands. I don't know how to tell if that is correct or not so I think the best thing to do is to send them to aries and have them verify it. it would suck trash $500 worth of pistons that have like 8miles on them.
Maybe one of you guy can tell frome these pics and let me know what they are talking about

I dont see anything unusual in the pics....closeup of the ringland perhaps? I wouldnt think you need to send them to arias any other local machine shop you can verify at?

True..... just remember Arias specializes in manufacturing, rather then inspection/assembly such as a machine shop does

the machine shop isn't building the block, I am. like I mentioned before, neither of the shops I looked into would assemble a block unless you bought new parts from them. the only reason they have the pistons is to verify the ptw clearance. they just brought it up so I am verifying to be sure.

gotcha, thats pretty lame/shady they wont build using parts you bring in. in that case I wouldnt trust what they have to say about your existing parts

From Aries...
the biggest problem would be if the piston skirts are collapsed, if the aren't, you can run them, just make sure the rings are free and the grooves aren't damaged. I can't see very well in the pictures, would have to have the pistons in my hands.
there seems to be bearing material imbedded in the skirts, if you run them, that would have to be cleaned with a buffing wheel.

Not that I am aware of. they said they would prefer that I send them to aries as a double check. aries is fine with that and they can inspect them bit they are not sure about cleaning them up until they see them.
looking for a block now...
