Re: Turbo Selection Options: B16/Spoon Cross-mission Trans for Flat Torqueband
The head and block are separated. The head has the same carbon deposits so I will need to clean that up. Seems like a lot for 500miles. Can it just be from the car running like garbage when the bearings were on their way out? Other wise the cams, cylinder walls etc all look good.

I hate to beat a dead horse but why is your oil pickup smashed then? GSR/LS/B16 do not have the same pan/pickup. Even if they were new but the wrong combination that could cause the pickup to hang too low and block all of your oil flow.

I don't think it is smashed... maybe just the way the pic was taken? I will take another later tonight if i remember.

agreed i think its just the pic. as for your carbon build up that did not happen overnight. I wouldnt worry too much about what mine looked like with very few miles, possibly running rich/had oil vapors in the cylinders

The guy who is taking the head apart and cleaning it said he might have a set of CTR or ITR cams... if he does is it worth tossing them in with my setup?

yes definetly worth it on any turbo set up unless you already have aftermarket cams, pr if you dont care about top end power

thats a serious chunk of change for a motor producing 300 at the crank...unless youre looking for the cool factor i guess. surely you already know what $6500 would get you if you sleeved and built an engine..

Any of you guys have a set of GSR oil jets/ squirters? I can only find the expensive ones from the dealer.

That or check eBay they cost about 30 a set, you can also find the plug kit on there. Not much difference in price between used squirters and the plug kit so you can decide which route you prefer

nothing on the ebay. I have plugs but I was told by 4pistion to use the squirters if running on the track.

Re: Turbo Selection Options: B16/Spoon Cross-mission Trans for Flat Torqueband
ugh... still waiting on the engine. 4piston racing said is would ship last monday but i wasnt able to reach them all week to find out what is going on.
My oil pan did show up and it is nice except for the bent oil flange area. Summit is suppose to ship out a new one. I have no clue why it would ship like that ; (
I have received the following or they are on order
OEM Headgasket
OEM Oil pick up
Head taken apart and cleaned
B18 ARP headstuds
oil pressure sensor for hondata
Gates racing timing belt
Need to order
Timing covers
various gaskets
Maybe order while I am in there
Methanol content sensor and gauge or upgrade my hondata to V3 / sensor
Anything I might be missing since i am swapping from the b16 to b18?

They got back to me and said they were tied up with a race last week so you are probably right. They are waiting for a new top ring from Weisco since one of them wasn't right.
Hopefully it does the trick.

The only real big difference is the oil pan and I am still not sure that one is going to do the trick but I am hoping.

The oil line in the pic actually isn't even connected. I have to change the whole thing since canton puts the return port on the far side of the pan near the transmission. Thanks for looking out though

Re: Turbo Selection Options: B16/Spoon Cross-mission Trans for Flat Torqueband
I was going to add two of these sensors onto the engine to monitor oil pressure. I was going to use the port on the back of the block for one but do you guys have a suggestion for where I should place the other? I would perfer they were at the far ends of the oiling system. Maybe the head?
Hondata s300 Programmable ECU Guide
Also, what size thread is that port on the back of the block? 1/8 BSPT???
Also is there a good turbo oil feed port on the opposite side of the block so that i don't have to run a feed line over the head??
