Turbo selection for all out K-Series
New to FI, need some input on the "best" turbo for an all out K-Series that will be used in a 100yd sand drag dragster. No rules, limits, etc. on the engine/turbo/fuel.
We plan on keeping with the stock 87mm bore but having Scat make us a billet crank, we are going to stuff the biggest stoke we can fit with alum rods.
Thanks

There is no "BEST" only best for you.
-Budget for cost
-Style (T3 or T4)
-Size inducer
-Power desired
We don't know really the prupose of a 100yd Sand dragster, you need to be specific based upon the power you want to obtain. Otherwise we can't help.

No limits, something like a 66/67mm will be the best you should consider. 100yards isnt much, and anything larger will be pointless. You could use a 71-72mm, but you wont make full use of it and will be left behind.

well we definately know it isnt going to hook, what trans out of curiosity.
If more power is better, which it might be, i would do a 372+nitrous setup, be great for spool and big power. And you said no limits. Im just not sure what kind of power level is useful in sand.

What fuel, transmission are you gonna run? Spool shouldn't be an issue if you're launching at high rpm and spinning the whole time so long as its geared correctly. You can build a good amount of boost off the line. I'd probably start with something in the 72mm range and run it on alcohol.

Like said, we need more info.
But im in for this unique set up! I rode in a boosted sand rail with an EJ20 engine. Good times! You'll have to make a build thread

-Budget for cost - $2k
-Style (T3 or T4) I am thinking T4
-Size inducer - Not sure, what I need help with
-Power desired - We're hoping to push the 1000hp mark (peak)
Thanks

We already have 1 dragster on our team, it has a Pauter Big Block opposed 4 cyl (VW Style), making 850ish HP on 38lbs, plus a 250 shot on top. We just went out last weekend for the first time in 4 years and ran a career best of 2.90.

The trans and rear end changes everything. A 71-72m will work great, but not many of those in your price range. The S372R would be a good match.
