turbo and reliability as a daily driver (GSR) ...
i know this is something that has been mentioned before, but when i searched i only came up with something about the reliability of turbo in an LS, but what about the GSR? how reliable would turbo be in a GSR on stock internals, provided that the install was done correctly and the maintenance of the motor was in tip-top shape.
by daily driver i mean daily, about 20K per year, maybe less
btw, to all with a turbo'ed GSR, how many miles did u guys go without any major problems?
one more thing, what are some hp figures and 1-4 miles times on the stock-internal, daily driven, GSR's out there?
TIA

35,000 miles this year and the year isnt even up yet. I take road trips almost every other weekend 4hours both ways. All stock compenents with the exception exhaust. 277whp 200ft.lbs @ 7.25psi. I race when provoked, and I have only lost one race.

Re: turbo and reliability as a daily driver (Flamenco-T)
2.5 years almost now. 40K miles.
Boosted the H*LL out of it tonight! Man I drove up this street and did a hard 1-2 shift which, of course, lights the tires up on fire. Well there I was moving forward in 2nd gear close to redline with the tires spinning. Getting too close to redline so i back off the gas a little. Blow-off valve sounds off. Still spinning. Get back on the gas again to close in on redline. Kept doing that for several repetitions. Man that BOV is a sweet sound when you have turbo spooling, exhaust popping, blow-off valve echoing between building, and tires SCREAMING.
Turbo life is good.

I only have about 3k miles on mine in the last 2-3 months I have had it on. This is in addition to the 8k I put on there with a JRSC, all during this year. Things are still looking good.

Bah, just proves texans don't take their cars any where near their limits... I drove my stock B16a with POS stock injectors at 10-11 PSI for 3 hours before melting a piston. OOPS.
But it was KICKING major *** while it ran
Now, built bottom end, I've been boosting 8-12 PSI for a month, no issues besides broken drivetrain parts

Art, are you running the GT35R? If so, when does it begin to spool and when does it hit full boost?

i've been turbo'd for 2+ years now with no problems... completley stock GSR head/block(running 7psi for a while, now at 10psi)... only thing i've really had to deal with is removing the manifold and sanding down the flanges due to the fact that they got warped from heat and caused leaks. i've also had to deal with charge piping blowing off, but as far as i'm concerened both of those things are givens with any turbo setup.
