Turbo reccomendation...400whp pump gas b16
So, I am looking at alot of different options...here's the setup
B16A2 block...stock bore
GSR Cams (stock head)
ARP headstuds
CP 9.0:1 pistons
Eagle rods
One-Fab Type One AC
3" DP/exhaust
Tial 44mm v band
Victor X intake manifold
24x12x3 intercooler
2.5" IC piping
Walbro 255...
GT3071 has been suggested...
Currently I have RC550's, but I'm jumping to 880's before I finish putting the car back together.
I would really like 400whp on pump gas (we have 94octane here) with a decent spool time. I'm also looking for about 500whp on race gas in the future...
Suggestions, comments, death threats...whatever really

Re: Turbo reccomendation...400whp pump gas b16 (99blusi)
I am going to kill you and everyone you know
I'm still semi-deciding on a turbo myself, so I can't really help you there. Same goals...different block. Anyway you're going to want to have the block bored .20 over (81.5mm) to make sure the cylinders are round. It's just proper engine building technique. Sorry I couldn't help you with the turbo choice though. I am most likely going with a t3/t67 though. 400 on pump/550+ on 110.

The block is already built and broken in. I put it together last winter and now I'm just rebuilding my turbo setup. I had a greddy kit on there, it just wasn't enough.

Oh ok. Well then...it's tough to find a turbo that can make good power and still spool good on a 1.6. My reccomendation, if you don't plan on going over 500WHP, is a gt30r. That will get you there with excellent spool for the power its capable of.

I choose the GT4082 $895 or the Garrett T3/T61 "Blowzilla" $795 both will get you to 400 and then some. And pretty good spool time. Check http://www.turboelements.com/index.php

I'm not positive but I don't think that turbo will make 500 whp. if it does it wont be efficient whatsoever.

I will agree with D@nny. SC34 I believe is efficent to 545-550... On a built motor I believe the SC34 is definetly capable of 500 on a good tune

That 545 number Precision states is flywheel HP...not WHP. I'd say its gonna max out around 450 WHP. Especially with the .48a/r.

the garrett gt3071r with the 0.82 a/r t3 turbine will work really good. spools up fast and will make about 450hp

we made over 480 whp with this turbo on 20 psi on a piston and rod ls vtec.....the .48 spooled liek a monster and jumped on everyone he raced from a roll
the sc34 is a great turbo for a b16
my gt35R is flywheel rated at about 600hp and I made 654 at the wheels....

This is true. I had a SC34 on my built b16 and it pulled hard as ****. I believe i had a slightly bigger exhaust housing but still this turbo is very capable of producing 500 WHP. Actually i kind of wish I would have stuck with the turbo! You will be very pleased with the way the SC34 performs!

Unfortunately that power level is at the crank, and with the type and size wheels on the SC34, the MAXIMUM out of it efficiently is about 430whp. PLease take into account the 20% average driveline loss..

It's an okay turbo IMO, but it takes to much boost to get there. If you have the money go with the gt30r.
Good luck

Re: Turbo reccomendation...400whp pump gas b16 (TurboChrgd_Civic)
I think I might end up with the gt30r...possibly the 3040...
Fortunately, money's not really an object. The limiting factor is my stock sleeves...I just don't feel like pulling my block out again. I'm a lazy bastard...

Re: Turbo reccomendation...400whp pump gas b16 (99blusi)
I made 396whp/268ftlb @ 17lbs with a GT35E on my B16. Had great spool time and response with that turbo....
