Default turbo is really slow on spooling??? opinions please

I have a 16G on my B16a3 and dont hit boost until 4k and thats with only 5 psi. Everyone always told me this would be a super fast spooling turbo since it was so small for a DOHC VTEC engine. I am still very new to this and can't figure it out. Only thing I can think of is I have a weld leaking on my custom IC piping. Any other opinions? or will it always be this slow

do you mean start spooling or full boost? if your getting full boost @ 4k with a 16g on a b16 i really don't see the problem. While that turbo maybe "small" in teh honda-tech world where everything is sc61 +. Its really not a small turbo. I dont' see any problems with full boost @ 4k.

Sounds kinda late to me. Fix your IC piping and then see. It's hard to say what the problem might be if you have a leak.

Sounds about right to me. My SR20 spools up the stock T25 with an uncorked exhaust at around 3k RPM in 3rd gear. It'll make 10 psi just above 2k RPM in 5th gear tho'.

A T25 is a tiny tiny turbo next to a 16G, and I have 400cc's of displacement on you. Sounds about right.

try hooking up a manual boost controller from home depot or something. and dont really raise the boost, just put a little pressure on the spring so your wg wont crack open before full boost, you should see atleast a 500 rpm sooner spool time.
ex. my t3/to4e would spool 12 psi at 6k on my d16z6, with an mbc hooked up i would get 12 psi at 4.5k!
