TURBO R? @ 11:1 ? yeah?
i posted this in the itr forum.....but maybe i will get more response here....
"hey
just searching for info, hp figures, or whatever
ill make this to the point
does anyone have any experiance with turbo charging a b18c5 usdm or jdm spec?
i myself do not want to turbo charge my itr engine.....but a friend with an itr is thinking of it.
im curious if anyone can share setups, hp numbers, how much boost? what mods?
is a 100% stock itr engine safe for....lets say 8 psi? how about 300 hp?
as you can tell i dont know much about FI, and especially on any high comp engines.....but i am curious about high comp engines and low boost builds
i am currently trying to talk a friend into selling his b20vtec and using his b18c5 sitting in his garage and turboing that for his 2000 itr
alright thanks for any input"

I turbo'd my stock ITR motor, USDM is only 10.6:1 though.
I'm not sure if your asking a question or not though?? FWIW, alot of guys on here have great sucess with turbo on stock C5's. I made 282whp on a stock ITR motor running only 7.5psi untuned too

A couple years ago 90% of ITR's were allmotor, but ive seen alot of success lately and the # of boosted ITR's are definitely growing. From what ive seen the average ITR on 7 psi is making around 275-290. There one ITR making 295, but cant remember how much boost, but its in his Signature.

That would be me I think and my boost is being limited because my current injectors can't handle it. I am looking to make over 300whp by the ned of summer.
Also, thicker headgasket won't cut it...that was my original setup and it sucked. My ringlands shattered like glass....I love my setup now....major kick in the *** at 4500rpm and gets better from there

Re: TURBO R? @ 11:1 ? yeah? (yayaRl337)
my current setup is in my sig.
My original setup was a thick head gasket with a stock bottom end, ans stock timing. I was at .45bar making good power, but 2 pistons shattered. I was detonating big time!
My car is so much better now and I can push 1.1BAR on 450cc's (but they run at 97%)...i will be putting in 550cc's this weekend

ITR206 did almost 300whp on a custom turbo setup and hondata. Stock internals. It was at the first Philly Dyno Day. Everyone was impressed. BoostedHybrid worked his Hondata magic.

the only thing bad that i can think of is its much more expensive if you make a "mistake" while tuning other than that i think it would be sweet to run such a low amount of boost but yet get so much power from it. i wonder if you'd need really high octane gas...

some people get really lucky and have good setups with very little tuning...I didn't and I was on 100 octane gas.
But with lower compression, there is a larger margine for error, and you can test various fuel and timing settings until you hit the sweet spot

IMO...High compression + turbo is okay if you can get it tuned for it, but turbo + hi compression + stock rods and pistons is a recipe for disaster unless you are feeling REALLY lucky

I did one that made 254whp at 5psi. It was on a pump/fmu so i didn't want to push it any more. Should do 280-300 at 7-8psi.

I turbo'd my stock C5 for 24,000 miles at 11psi with no problems at all. Made 280hp and 200tq on a small straight T3 turbo. Would have made easy 300hp with a bigger turbo.
invest in good engine management and a J&S and you'll be set.

If U don't mind, how do U have your turbo'd R set up? Are U still using stock internals especially the cams? I'm very interested in going FI. I'm just torn between a turbo & a JRSC.

Boosted My R, Love it! running rc440's, stock bottom end and hondata, My tunner was o.k. i guess from reading other posts but I made...230 at 5psi, i was getting 16 whp across for every psi..so if i figure it, i could of got 246-250 on 6psi. and this is with a drag 3 kit, hi-flow cat, and the shitty part is California 91 pump.
These days, a type-R is not a Type-R if its not boosted.
