greddy kit
I maybe impartial because thats what i'm going with plus a "few" modifications to it.
It really depends on how much money you want to spend and how much power u want. And do ALOT of research.

you can also wait for the new JG/Edelbrock kit to come out. supposed to be very complete with their own intake manifold, too.

Honestly I'd look into the Edelbrock (no more JG) kit once it's released. They have been making excellent products for decades, and the pics that were posted looked NICE.

i would recommend the greddy sohc kit. ease of install was the sticking point for me. problem is that you can't boost too much on the blue box. the only hard part is the wiring of the blue box.

Apexi kit is better. It's a 18g turbo i believe. And had a bit more power than the Greddy. You will see a 160-180 whp...........safe power that is. That is a direct quote from tony1 at jotech when i was thinking about going sohc-t.

The Apexi kit uses a funky IHI turbo, not a Mitsu turbo. I'm pretty sure it's capable of more than 180 hp (especially considering the Greddy kit can go over 200 hp).

Don't judge a kit by how much power they claim to produce. You have to look at what you need to do to your engine to make that type of power in a safe and reliable fashion. Look at fuel management options, options for building your block etc. How much power you can reliably make will really depend on how much you can afford to spend and how much time you spend tuning.

Greddy

If something doesn't fit right and you can tech support...might as well Tried to install a kit they said would fit a '95 GSR, and a charge pipe wouldn't fit, called Greddy and they said...oh well.

For a '96 Civic....you looking for a emissions legal kit? None on the market right now have an E.O. #.

I run the APEXI kit with the Gt FMIC and LOVE IT. IT LOOKS COOL AS HELL AND SPOOLS great. I GIVE APEXI two thumbs up. There instruction booklets are nice and easy to read and not some XEROX COPY like the greddy ones. I run 12psi on my kit and it is screamin fast. Good luck

Edelbrock expects to have their kit available by early spring and IIRC, it is supposed to be emissions legal. I've also heard that it will run $3500. Guess that we will have to wait and see.

Thanks for the advice WTF are you talking about? If making power is not the reason you are installing a turbo "kit" then why bother?

This is what's import to me if I were ever to take the sissy route and buy a kit:

1. How much power does it make?
2. Quality of parts used

That's it. What else is there to consider? Reliable? What makes one kit more reliable than another? All the big name kits are high quality and one is as reliable as the next.

None so far come with good fuel management options, so you're on your own with that. Options for building your block? What turbo kit manufacturer offers that as an option with their kit?

I agree Hatchblack I guess us DFW people think alike. I know the greddy can make over 200 i was just stating what tony said. Im talking about "bolt and go"
everyday driving 6-7psi. That's what i meant by 160-180. Just a direct quote. I have friends on a single make close to 200 on a SOHC but was pushing that little turbo.

Yep yep...Greddy makes really nice stuff but the Apexi is really nice. The Edelbrock looks like it will be a real winner but we'll have to wait to see the specs before knowing for sure.

A kit is not for me, although it would be a lot easier to have all the parts in one box for one price.
