hey all, got a lil problem with my setup on my 97 gsr... if i try and floor it until 5000 rpms it sputters. I can go half throttle or more until 5000 rpms. right after 5000 rpms it pulls like crazy but anywhere below 4800-5000 rpms it sputters when i floor it. heres a video .... check it out need help please!!

possibly too much fuel or plugs gapped too wide. *still waiting for vid to DL*

EDIT: wow that was brutal. prolly not a gapping problem. any FMU?

hehehe...indiglo gauges.

I'd check the plugs, make sure they are gapped correctly. man that car was bucking like a raging bull...

i get that when my turbo starts to separate from the manifold thus causing slower spool and a overly rich condition before boost.

check the plugs. man that was a really bad bogg. did u check your map? maybe its running too fat. do u have an wideband to see where its at? maybe lean it out a lil. i was thinkin to myself man it cant be that bad till i saw the vid. that must be horrible driving that thing around.

Heh..

If my car was doing that as I was driving the last thing I'd be doing is putting the pedal to the floor and riding it out..lol

But on a serious note, I'd sugest basically to try the same things already mentioned, and maybe check the basic tune-up items like cap and rotr, wires, etc...

Just my opinion, so take it for what it's worth.

If the plugs were fubarred, it would get worse as the revs rise. More boost, faster firing = more stress on the plugs.

I would take it back to the tuner and check the maps. Could have low RPM map issues. Do you have a wide-band in the car? If you can, borrow one or whatever.

Also, try putting a fuel pressure guage with a long hose attatched to it. Have a passenger hold the guage while you accelerate, and see what happens.

You need 2 things for a motor to run properly - spark and fuel.

well at idle i get a constant 14.6-14.8 air fuel ratio... i guess ill try leaning it out a little. but why does it work fine rite after 5000 rpms? it pulls like nuts ....only way i can race is if i start from a roll at any gear at or after 5000 rpms lol. btw, it doesnt bog like that at normal driving, just when i floor it....

Stock injectors @ 7psi? That takes some *****.

It's most definatley a fuel map problem. I'm guessing it's your low map, and your car probably switches to the high map (vtec) @ around 5k.

Post the map and let some of us check it out.

Matt

edit: Meanwhile, GET SOME INJECTORS!

I'm going to go ahead and say that ***you don't even have a boost map set up***.

you're probably pig rich below 5k, and anything in boost is lean as hell.

is your vtec kicking in? are you using an external controller? because it's not enabled in the rom you posted.

list everything done to the car, and everything you changed in the rom.

Hey, I think something must have been wrong with your speedo... it said you were doing 110 MPH on the street.

Just kidding. Anyhow what's your setup? That thing pulls pretty hard for sure. Dyno yet?

well your uberdata map has no boost section setup at all... I dont even know what happens when there's nothing setup. I would suggest not driving it until you get your new injectors installed.

edit: also I hope I was hearing the wastegate in the video, and not a whole lotta detonation.

don't disconnect the charge piping, the turbine will fry itself if it doesn't have the backpressure in the charge piping.

1) stay out of boost, PLEASE.
2) get some 450cc or bigger injectors
3) come back when you have these and we can talk about making a boost map AND then you can tune it with your wideband.

PLEASE DO NOT BOOST UNTIL YOU HAVE NEW INJECTORS.
