Default Turbo Poorman's R Build Thread

Another N/A guy goes to the darkside.

My build:
B16 head
ITR cams
AEBS IM
81.5mm B18C1 block
Eagle rods/CP pistons
ITR crank
PeakBoost Ramhorn Full Kit
GT3076R
3in downpipe, Tial hardware
Random Technologies 3in cat
KTeller 3in/Magnaflow 3in
RC 750cc's

Hondata S300

I put the shortblock together, yes I have pics, they'll be up soon, at a buddy's house 2 weeks ago.

Last weekend, the B16 in my Si breathed it's last breath. Out she came. The head was removed, cleaned and mated to the GSR block. And she will be reborn this weekend. I'll be shooting for 350-400whp@ under 20 psi.

Updates coming soon.

Sounds like a fun streetable setup. Any thought in upgrading the valve springs? I don't see it taking anywhere near 20psi to reach 400 with a 3076R. Which housing option do you have? .63 housing was nice on my original setup which put down 375hp at 11psi.

+1 on far less than 20psi being needed for 400 on that setup. i'm on my way to a 3076-based build as well, but i'm a bit behind you. just focusing on getting a rolling chassis for now cause i'm PCSing this summer.

good luck, you're gonna have a blast in that thing!

I got the .63 housing as well. And I actually am iffy about using ITR cams on my stock valvetrain, so I orderded some Crower stuff yesterday. I'm safe until 8k for now.

Motor's in, just go to put in the axles/shift linkage/turbo kit today.

So way less than 20 psi is needed? I'm glad to hear that.

Oh snap, Charles in the FI forum. You've talked about it, but I never actually thought I'd see the day.

When you get this done make sure to bring it up. Don't forget, you owe me a good Philly cheesesteak.

Way less. It only too 14psi for me to hit 380hp (using a log manifold).

Your crower valvetrain is only good for 8K? you should be able to take that to 9k now. I take my 01 itr cams to 9k with a supertech valvetrain, i'm assuming they are comparable.

If this is an unsleeved 9:1 C:R block I would try to keep it under 18psi on pump. you'll definitely hit 400 before that.

First time for everything. And I'm definately coming up to Philly again.

Update:

Motor is in, and everything is connected. She looks good, but the Hobby Shop on base closed at 5pm. Tomorrow, I'm hooking up the boost/oil pressure gauge, fuel pump, and putting fuids in.

Hopefully she'll start reborn for the first time.

I've got stock B16 valvetrain in there now, the Crower stuff's on order. 400whp before 18psi makes me very happy.

Definitely doable, but it also depends on how well everything flows. I definitely see your setup doing what you want it to do though.

Bring it up here, and we'll go terrorize Philly.

Rue 21, a few years ago.

On another note, the Omni 4bar Map Sensor is a great little piece. Bolted up just like stock.

Requisite "finished" engine pic.

Boost is fun.
I'm just curious why you chose the 30R over the 35R?

What do you plan on your final compression to be on the motor? I rarely see Poorman's under boost.

I chose the 30R because I'd rather have a quick/fast streetcar than a full-out monster. The GT3076R is more than sufficient for what I have planned.

The final compression should be about 9.6:1.

that motor and turbo setup will make power with its eyes closed. id say you'll crack 400whp with between 15-17psi

Yup.

Kyle. This is the turbo you should get. It's the turbo I was going to get but with my manifold, I'm running a basic T3T4 because I'm not planning to ever make that much.

Nice setup and it should be fun.

Always good for something, the Marine Corps. 6 1/2years strong and loving it.
