I have a very similar setup. The only difference I can see is you running the 40mm tial wastegate, I run the 35mm.

I run a Garrett t03-04e 50 trim with an .63 a/r This turbo is great for street and track. Has a great quick spool and makes good power. I made 367whp on 94 pump at 15psi ,and 427whp on c16 at 22psi.

Don't pray, with the money you are about to spend make sure you take it to the right place to get it tuned.

Most will tell you that tunning is key no questions asked. I run 15psi daily on pump and have no problems.

I run a sc61 at 14psi daily. I put down 290 at 9 psi, so I would figure around 350 easy with 14. Dyno'd 454 at 21psi. That's with a 2.5 down pipe too. So I need a bigger one to go to 28 psi cause I wasn't making anymore power. I just got some ITR cams too, can't wait to put those in. Just lazy. go with a sc61 I don't have too much lag. I had a t3t4e before and put down 367 at 17 psi. Wasn't too impressed til I put on the SC 61. Spend a little more money and be happier.

i dont think the sc61 will spool fast enough for my liking...it isnt ball bearing is it? i really would like a bb turbo...i assume they last longer and spool faster.

I'm in a similar situation to you, although our setups will differ. There seems to be a lot of SC61 turbos for sale. I guess people jumped on the bandwagon, then found out there's too much lag. My mind was set on the GT3561 (pretty much an updated SC61), but now I'm looking at the GT3255 or GT3257 after reading posts about how laggy the SC61 is. If I could afford it, the GT35R ball bearing would be my choice, but even that is probably overkill for my goal of 350whp on a 1.8 ls/vtec.

this is definatly not an easy decision i just want to be able to run a quick spooling 350 hp on pump gas but with higher potential on race i am willing to spend the extra cash for a longer lasting quicker spooling turbo...just not sure what will meet my goals i think i will give garrett a call and see if they are willing to help me choose

this is the 1st tune. The 2nd (w/ 255 and 3 in ex) put this car at 349HP. Stock GSR at 10 lbs on 93 pump gas!!

The sc61 feals good to me. It is at full (10LBS) before 4000 RPM and pulls like a MF allll the way past redline (set at 8500 after re tune). Great on the strip and street. If you must have a BB turbo, get the BB GT BB version.

i have an sc61 turbo on my ls/vtec . similar setup to yours, except for i have 880 injectors, and an 00 si head. get a boost controller, i got a profec b spec 2, precision intercooler and look into getting an lsd quaiffe. oh, no headwork done for me either.

the sc61 spools good, it's the first turbo i ever got so i can't really compare it to anything else. full boost is about 5 grand, but when it hits, it hits.
15 psi, 92 pump, over 350hp
25psi, c16, over 500hp. i cant really remember the exact hp's but i got it tune at payntech in mi.

honestly, feeling that much power for the first time is amazing, especially in a street car. when i was allmotor it seemed like everybody wanted to race me, ( on the way to work, back from work, cruising) now it seems like nobody ever lines up next to me.

i know i probably didn't help you in deciding a turbo, but the main reason i got the sc61 was because it was the hype at the time and the price seemed very good. once i hit over 350hp and then 500hp all that spool time, compressor maps, and **** like that goes out the window. i'm just trying to keep my car on the road.

haha thanks for the reply...i may end up going with the sc61 if i cant muster up the money for a bb turbo..my whole thing is i dont really want a huge jekyl and hyde thing goin on since it is a street car....lol maybe i need to have two diff turbos haha.... heres another question how long would i expect a non ball bearing turbo to last at that kinda of output? i am just wondering am i going to be rebuilding this thing twice a year or anything like that... i expect a bb turbo to last quite a bit longer

If by "street tires" you mean drag radials, then an 11 second pass on DR's is entirely possible if you're a good driver.

I would not agree with that statement....an oil journal turbo used under the correct conditions should last as long as a BB turbo.....and longer than a BB turbo that is abused.
BB turbos do exibit less drag during high thrust loads (seen in higher boost levels) this reason is why BB turbos spool faster conpared to oil journals, they do spin alittle easier or spin down slower than oil journal turbos (but realisticaly that does not mean anything), they cost more of course
I think a GT30R varient turbo would more than get you to your power goals and work fairly well. Infact it may even be alittle much for only 350Hp
