turbo leaking oil into exhaust? need help
I have a turbo lsvtec(stock b18a block/stock b16 head chipped p72 ecu) and its leaking a little oil from the corner of the exhaust/turbo manifold. I took off the downpipe and there's a lot of oil on the surfaces where the dp and turbo meet. There's also oil in the downpipe and exhaust. The b16 head is fresh. New valve stem seals havent done a valve adjustment yet tho. I havent even driven the car, just started it and revved it abit. The cars also smoking. I was thinking blown turbo..or my catch can setup. I blocked off the port on the block that usually connects to the black box. Should i uncap that and run it to my catch can? Or is the problem the turbo..or elsewhere? I was also thinking my return line. Its not kinked but its also not at a 90 degree angle. Would a kinked return line cause oil to backup like that? Any helps appreciated

Who did the valve stem seals and more importantly are they oem or aftermarket?
What turbo is on the car, what size oil feed line, what size oil drain hose and configuration? oil restrictor?

turbine seal went more than likely.
most oil in the manifold would burn off once everything got up to temp

The return like is one of those 3an lines...its not kinked but its kinda long..I pulled it off and black oil poured out...idk how my oil got that black without really running it hard or for along time....I'm lookinj got a place to get a good return line that's shorter...the valve seals were done by me...and they are the oem felpro seals

um i hope you ment the feed line is 3an. the return line needs to be 10an or 5/8 hose that is oil resistant. if your running -3an as a return line the seals on that turbo are blown

After my turbo started smoking, and I mean bad. Burnt a qt of oil in a 60 mile drive.. I was thinking either turbo seals or ringlands. Pulled off downpipe to find it oil soaked, pulled off turbo and started car, no smoke. Turbo seals blown. No restrictor on eBay turbo. Good news is the restrictor I ordered came in the week after I blew the turbo.

if you take off the turbo manifold and see if oil is leaking from the valve stems that will answer your question if its turbo or motor

Re: turbo leaking oil into exhaust? need help
I opened up my turbo and found oil leaking into the compressor housing. Theres oil inside the hot side of the turbo. And alot where it bolted to the downpipe. No shaft play tho... but im guessing the turbo is the culprit for the oil in the exhaust and incessant smoking. Still not sure how it manageed to leak out from the turbo manifold..
