They still have to cover the car, but not any mods.

When i got into an accident with my si, they replaced my aem intake no questions asked, not a huge deal being only an intake but figured i would throw it in there seeing its a mod

Some will, but they are not required to.

All insurance companies will cover modifications assuming you inform them ahead of time and possibly allow them to adjust your premiums.

Not all of them. Some companys will not even insure you if they are aware of any performance mods. To know for sure you should call your company and ask "hypothetical" questions.

I have all my mods covered with 10k of additional insurance, through Progressive.

Depends on the insurance company. My friend just got into an accident and they considered his hatch totaled. It was just some busted headlights and a bent core support. He bought it back for $200 and it still had the motor and supercharger.

what i was told by a friend that works for one, is whenever you get your car done to call them and tell them to send a adjuster to revalve or reappraises the car and when thats done whatever you car is valved at they cover. Thats what im going to do when my car is done anyways.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Avenged7x &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">ya i tried asking the insurence co without actually saying what i have. they said as long as i have reseats they will cover everyhting.. unless i go totally overboard like with a 10g paint job (she used some guy with a pt cruiser as an example).</TD></TR></TABLE>

That sounds very fishy to me. Im a **** when it comes to interacting with customer support. I once called my old insurance company and asked them the very same question and received the very same answer. A few months later I had to make an addition to the policy and decided to asked the same question again to double check. This time I got a definite NO. So I called back a 3rd time and talked to another rep. I got another NO but I pressed harder and made them confirm their answer with their supervisor. This time they said they could but for a fee. They would have to work up a quote and get back to me. Strange how the answer changes with each person you talk to.

And thats what I find with basically every company. Make sure you get that in writting before you think your covered. Because when it comes time to claim those mods the insurance company is going to claim ignorance in regards to that phone call and say they dont cover mods.

i would take the turbo and motor. Give them the shell. I gave my insurance my car stripped with one rim and rest of steelies. My roof had a dent and side had a pretty big dent. I was very surprised that I got 6,000+ from a Honda civic dx
