Turbo Kit On Stock Internals Question - No not another max HP Thread
I've been looking around and doing some searches of the hondatech/turbod16/etc and I can't find an answer.
I've got a side build going on for my Z6 I just spun a rod bearing on. Gonna tear down do the whole Vitara/I beam build, sleeve it, etc. But that's not my question.
This is for my Y8 currently being put in the car.
I've been reading up on the Edelbrock/greddy/etc and they list the turbo having a max of 7 psi output. My goal on the stock internals is between 210-220 whp, and I know even with a good tune, on those specific turbo's, 7 psi won't get me there. At least not to my knowledge. (Which I'm not claiming to know a great amount, but I consider it adequate.)
Anyhow, what size turbo should I upgrade to? A local shop, Velocity Trends, builds custom kits, but they charge out the wazoo.. so any help here or a point in the right direction is greatly appreciated.
Also, as I'm just beginning to understand everything that comes with running forced induction, would 3 psi above what the stock turbo on those kits puts out, cause a need for an upgrade in piping, wastegate, bov spring, etc?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Turbo Kit On Stock Internals Question - No not another max HP Thread (OneCamBoostin)
To get the best answer is to look at other people set ups and see what works for them.
The edlebrock kit is a very good, streetable kit that will get you good numbers.
When turned up the piping and blow-off valve are more than good enough to support the increased power levels.
Just search and you should find everything you need.

Seeing as your probably going to go much higher than the 210 once you finish your Z6 build. I think a custom kit (parts hand picked by you) would be best. As far as turbo suggestions go. I would find something that is going to meet your power goals for your z6 build and just deal with lag and low boost on that for now. What is your hp goal for you Z6 build?

Re: (TheShodan)
@Neo, about 375 hp. But that's probably going to happen around this time next year. I could always purchase another turbo.
This brings up another question, do you think a 50 trim garrett t3/t4 is a good choice for my current power goals of 210-220? Full Boost around... 4000 or so? Or would a smaller turbo, say 60 trim t3 with a slightly faster spool around 3500 but at a much higher psi be ok?
only thing i'm worried about is the IAT's with the later.. it's gonna get so hot.. especially for the stock internals i'll be running until my Z6 build is done..

Man U FTW
Either the 50 trim or the T3 Super 60 would be a good turbo for your setup. If you have a decent intercooler, IAT's wont be much of a concern. Also, i hope that your D spools a 50 trim up faster than 4k rpm....
