turbo kit for b18c1 in ef sedan
Looking to drive this car every day but being this is my first honda not real sure where the threshold between street and strip falls. The shortblock is just a freshed stock deal for now till i get all the swap sorted out then i want to throw a turbo in the mix at which time I have no issue building the bottom end right as the head has already been done. any recommendations?

the ballpark on a stock b18c is somewhere around 300whp. at that level they seem to live a long time provided the tune is done correctly and the car has adequate cooling. many, many ways to get here with a 50 or 57 trim being the most popular and the inline pro manifold being the first choice for reliability. if you want to install it and not turn a wrench for a year the parts have to be bought accordingly

Id really like to be in the 250whp area initially. Maybe turn up the wick later on after the bottom end is built. What size would be needed and is it possible to build everything for more power and just keep it low boost till its ready to handle more?

you'll easily get that with a 50 trim and .5bar spring
that same turbo could support 350whp with more pressure.
turbos depend on your budget. if you go cheap like $599 there's the 5431b from precision, BUT, there was recently a good thread about that turbo that pointed out it's ability to surge if you push it. from what the shodan was saying it will work up to about 380whp, over that it's a very bad choice.
the 3431 i've seen for $649 and you might even be able to get it for $599, from what i can tell in many cases it's actually the better choice even though it spools slightly slower

What disadvantages would there be to running the 57 as long as it wasnt being pushed? What it hurt to run it with such low boost?
Also does anyone make a GOOD kit for this set up w or w/o the turbo? (i.e. headers, piping, intercooler and bov)?

spoolin makes great kits if you want an all in one package.
the reason i brought up that 3431 is because of the ability to run more down the road.
maybe the shodan will pop by and discuss the pros and cons of the 5431b and 3431e in this application.
and yes some of your questions are noob but honestly turbo choice is something you can never know too much about

inline pro manafold looks really nice. seems like you can keep a full rad and move the fans to the front and just have them push

i agree the inline is probably the best street manifold made. reliability is much higher than welded tubular and you actually can fit things properly
