Default Turbo Intake Piping

On my t3/t4, the intake diameter is 2 3/4", would it be ok to have an intake piping that is 2 1/2" and just use a transition hose to hook em together
Or
Should I just make my own piping that is 2 3/4". The reason I want to use the 2 1/2" piping is because I have a CAI that I can hack up plus it has a nipple.

Would there be any power lost??

I would not get 2-3/4. I think it's to big. 2.5 is plenty. If you need a charge Pipe I have one for sale with a blow off valve already on. It's 2.5 Im if interested.

transition hose would work as well.

Ugh, I'm talking about the intake pipe that is attached to the turbo compressor.
