Turbo GSR w/Skunk2 IM???

1 Attachment(s)
I plan on boosting my stock internal JDM B18C GSR w/ ARP headstuds looking for around 300whp. I still got the stock intake manifold with IAB however i have a chipped P28 which doesnt have the capabilities to activate the butterfly valves. Should I get a skunk2 intake manifold or just remove the butterfly valves int he stock gsr intake?? I was told the skunk2 was a bad IM. How does it perform for forced induction? is it worth it?

nothing wrong with it, I assume you are talking about the pro series they do make 3 different manifolds. Pro ultrs street , and ultra race.

I would take a Type r manifold, or pro series(direct copy of a typr R manifold) any day

Be careful what you buy though - ITR/B16 IM flanges are different than the GSR.

It only takes about an hour to gut the butterflies out of the GSR IM and that'd be sufficient for your goals.

Let's not forget I/C piping location with an OEM GS-R manifold.

I would get the Skunk2 Pro Made for the GS-R for this. Considering the fact that over 99% of all B-series turbo setups that have prefabricated intercooler piping are based upon the B16/Type R, and places the the piping and throttle body in the correct locations of the body, that would be an easier alternative than to simply remove the butterflies and try and retune.

Remember, the GS-R not only have the different head flange bolt pattern from the B16/Type R, but it also relocates the throttle body further down the engine bay, making the need for some custom fabrication... (Unless the I/C piping kit you receive comes made for an OEM GS-R intake manifold)

Just one area to consider when making this decision.

Very good point. I forgot about the little downward kink in the GSR IC piping
